Microporous organic polyimides are well suited for carbon dioxide separation from gas mixtures based on their polar surface and their tendency towards ultramicroporosity. Nevertheless, their application potential is limited due to an inherent insolubility and infusibility, preventing an easy processing into functional objects like membranes.

Synthesis of Low Silica X zeolite (LSX) with hierarchical porosity was achieved. The low silicon/aluminum ratio of this zeolite allowed to increase the number of active sites, as cationic positions (>25%) respect to the previous mesoporous X zeolite.

The increasing complexity in composition and structure of modern porous nanocomposite materials requires the development of advanced technologies that allow the simultaneous treatment of dissimilar compounds, not only with unlike composition but also involving different classes of pores, e.g., micro and mesopores.

In the context of CO2 removal from biogas, a series of binderless zeolite LTA adsorbents with a macroscopic bead format (0.5–1.0 mm) and with hierarchical porosity (i.e. with the zeolitic micropores being accessible through meso- and macropores mainly in the 10–100 nm range) was synthesized with a variety of Si/Al ratios (1.2–3.9) using Amberlite IRA-900 anion-exchange resin beads as a hard template.

A three-dimensional reduced graphene oxide/nickel-cobalt sulfide (RGO/NiCo2S4) aerogel was fabricated by an efficient and facile one-step hydrothermal approach. The NiCo2S4 needle-like structure consisted of many small nanoparticles well attached to the surface of the RGO sheet. The prepared aerogel had high porosity and conductivity.
