A field experiment was conducted to find out the effect of different growth retardants on yield and yield contributing characters in mango (Mangifera indica L.) cv. Alphonso under Ultra High Density Planting during 2013-2014 at Jain Irrigation Systems Limited (JISL) Farms, in Tamil Nadu. Eleven treatments with different combinations were imposed on five-year-old uniform sized Alphonso trees grown under a spacing of 3 x 2 m.

A field experiment was conducted to evaluate optimum plant density and suitable G. hirsutum cotton genotype for high density planting system under rainfed condition. Plant growth parameters, seed cotton yield and economics of cotton genotypes under various high planting densities were studied during kharif, 2013-14 to 2015-16 on medium soil. Increase in plant density has reduced monopodial branches plant-1 whereas, number of bolls plant were increased with increase in density.

The field study consisted of eight treatments, in which drip fertigation was given in T1 to T3 with 75%, 100% and 125%of recommended dose (RDF, 80:40:40 kg NPK/ ha) as straight fertilizers N and K (urea and MOP) and SSP was applied as basal dose. In T4 to T6 fertigation provided with 75%, 100% and 125% RDF of water soluble fertilizer (19:19:19). Drip irrigation with 100% RDF (all as soil application) was given in T7 and T8 with drip irrigation and STCR based fertilizer application.

A field experiment was conducted to study the mean incidence of major cotton insect pests during two consecutive seasons i.e. during kharif, 2010-11 and 2011-12 at CICR, Nagpur under high density planting system (HDPS) using different genotypes of G. hirsutum with different spacings. The main objectives of the work was to identify lines of G. hirsutum which have less infestation of major insect pests under HDPS system and to investigate whether the incidence is influenced by plant density.

The study on “Incidence of sucking pests and natural enemies in cotton under high density planting system (HDPS)” was conducted at RARS, Lam, Guntur during kharif, 2016-17 to observe the incidence of sucking pests such as leafhoppers, aphids, thrips and whitefly and also the incidence of natural enemies (Spiders and Coccinellids). Among the sucking pests thrips population was found dominating other sucking pests during initial days of crop growth period i.e., up to 90 DAS there after aphid population was dominated i.e., from 90- 135 DAS both in normal and HDPS.

Pruning of guava cv. Allahabad Safeda under high density planting was done in the third week of June, 2013 with three pruning intensities i.e. leaving 10 cm, 20 cm and 30 cm from base of the shoot and retaining 30, 40 and 50 fruits per tree. Ten centimeter (10 cm) pruning intensity has advanced the vegetative bud appearance, maximum fruit diameter at harvest, average fruit weight and fruit yield.

The present investigation was undertaken at experimental fields of Division of Fruit Science, SKUAST-Kashmir, during the year 2014. In order to solve the problems of low productivity, poor quality, less colour and irregular bearing habits in current apple plantations in Kashmir valley, two apple varieties namely Super Chief Sandidge and Fuji Zehn Aztec were imported from Italy on M9T337 rootstock and planted at a distance of 1.5× 3m on four wire trellis system (2222 trees/ha).

Vidarbha region of Maharashtra comprising of two divisions i.e. Amravati and Nagpur was surveyed for locating high density spots of plant parasitic nematodes, Rotylenchulus spp.. About 737 soil samples were collected from 16 crop systems in 119 talukas and evaluated for presence of plant parasitic nematodes. In literature, amongst the genera of plant parasitic nematodes, threshold levels of damage have been standardised for only 5 genera.
