  • A complete liquid phase technology and a function regulator were applied to prepare CuZnAl catalysts for higher alcohol synthesis. Characterizations showed that the introduction of the function regulator can change the reduction ability of copper oxides and the surface basicity of catalysts. Activity tests indicated that the selectivity of higher alcohol is high when considerable medium-strong basicity and the synergistic effects of copper ion and metal copper exist on the catalytic surface.

  • About one fourth of patients with hip fracture have cognitive impairment. These patients are at higher risk of surgical and medical complications and are often excluded from participating in clinical research. The aim of the present study was to investigate orthopaedic surgeons’ ability to determine the cognitive status of patients with acute hip fracture and to compare the treatment given to patients with and without cognitive impairment.

  • High-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hsCRP) is an important marker of inflammation to predict the risk of CVDs. Existing reagent system for the detection of hs CRP has its limitation such as higher cost and requirement of sophisticated instruments, which minimize the utility of this effective marker utility in Indian population. The study was aimed to formulate and validate an improved reagent system for the detection of hs CRP. The study was targeted to formulate a latex-enhanced reagent format by selecting inert microscopic latex particles.

  • The field experiment was conducted at Research farm of Department of Agricultural Meteorology, college of Agriculture, Parbhani during kharif 2017 to study the performance of maize hybrids (Zea mays L.) under different sowing windows. The experiment comprised of five dates i.e. 25th SMW, 26th SMW, 27th SMW, 28th SMW and 29th SMW as main plot treatment with two maize hybrid viz. H1 (PIONEER-3501) and H2 (MONSANTO-9126) as sub plot treatments and replicated thrice. Factorial Randomized Block Design, gross and net plot sizes were 6.0 x 5.0 m2 and 4.8 x 4.

  • Research suggests that physical activity (PA) enhances cognitive performance and prevents stress-related impairments of higher order cognitive functions like working memory (WM) performance. The aim of the current study was to investigate the effect of PA on WM performance after acute stress exposure in preadolescent children.

  • The functional food development by adding probiotic bacteria is getting a lot of concern. In this study, Bifidobacterium bifidum AS 1.1886 was encapsulated in calcium-alginate 2 % w/v (C sample) or the mix of calcium-alginate 2 % (w/v) and whey protein 1 % (w/v) (CW sample) or calcium-alginate 2 % (w/v) coated by whey protein 1 % (w/v) (CcW sample) by extrusion method, and added to mayonnaise product. The pH changes, the survival rate of probiotic bacteria, and total yeast and mold count during storage, as well as the probiotic survival in simulated gastric medium, were evaluated.

  • Arguments for including mindfulness instruction in higher education have included claims about the benefits of mindfulness practice for critical thinking. While there is theoretical support for this claim, empirical support is limited. The aim of this study was to test this claim by investigating the effects of an online mindfulness intervention on executive function, critical thinking skills and associated thinking dispositions.

  • The study examines two dimensions that impact virtual team decision making. One is the influence of collaboration process structure: the sequences, patterns, and routines participants use to interact and solve problems. The other is technology affordance: the strengths and weaknesses of technologies in terms of the usefulness they offer to teams when performing tasks. Some teams used a structured collaboration process with monitoring, coordination, and backup functions during a decision-making discussion. Other teams had no discussion process instructions.

  • In this study, the TTS trend of the Korean surveillance test results was analyzed using a nonlinear regression model and a mixed-effect model based on the power function. The nonlinear regression model yielded a similar exponent as the power function in the fluence compared with RG1.99/ 2. The mixed-effect model had a higher value of the exponent and showed superior goodness of fit compared with the nonlinear regression model. Compared with RG1.99/2 and RG1.99/3, the mixed-effect model provided a more accurate prediction of the TTS.

  • Diane Ravitch, the noted education historian points out “At every level of formal education, from nursery school to graduate school, equal opportu- nity became the overriding goal of postwar7 educational reformers. Some- times those who led the battles seemed to forget why it was important to keep students in school longer; to forget that the fight for higher enroll- ments was part of a crusade against ignorance, and that institutions would be judged by what their students had learned as well as by how many were enrolled.

  • Nutrient requirements for optimum health and function of aging physiological systems often are quite distinct from young ones. Recognition and understanding of the special nutrition problems of the aged are being intensively researched and tested, especially due to the increases in the elderly in the general population. In developed countries, economic restrictions and physical inactivity during aging can signifi cantly reduce food intakes, contributing to nutritional stresses and needs. Many disease entities and cancers are found with higher frequency in the aged.

Since my aim also has been to demonstrate some solution strategy I have as far as possible structured the examples according to the following form A Awareness, i.e. a short description of what is the problem. D Decision, i.e. a reflection over what should be done with the problem. I Implementation, i.e. where all the calculations are made. C Control, i.e. a test of the result....

  • Methylation was initially addressed as one of the most primitive mechanisms that organisms utilize to (a) protect genomic DNA and initiate the host resistance mechanism towards foreign DNA insertion and subsequently, (b) control gene expression, (Doerfler & Böhm, 2006). From an evolutionary point of view as well, the catalytic domain in the structure of the methylation enzymes across all organisms has been preserved to perform methyl group addition.
