Homogenization method
-
This study proposes a constitutive mechanical law to model the behavior of the interface between a microcracked viscoelastic medium and an undamaged elastic body based on the homogenization method. The interface is modeled by a layer of zero thickness. The coupling between the homogenization technique and the Griffith’s theory is used to provide the effective behavior of the micro-cracked medium.

In this study, we propose to build an equivalent 2D model to replace the 3D model of corrugated composite sheets, by the method of homogenization, to study the nonlinear mechanical behavior of corrugated core composite sheets. This model helps to significantly reduce the calculation time as well as the model building time. The model homogeneity is confirmed by comparing the numerical simulation results of the 2D model and the 3D model.

In the paper "Finite element analysis for the composite sandwich plate using the homogenization method", we propose a homogeneous model for the composite sandwich plate. Accordingly, the 3D plate model will be replaced by a 2D homogeneous panel. Analytical calculations were performed for both models. The proposed model is confirmed by comparing the results obtained with the 3D plate model. The findings of this research will help us continue to build and finalize a homogenous model for a variety of structures.

In study "Effects of different beam theories on dynamic response of BFGSW beams under a moving mass" effects of different beam theories on dynamic response of bidirectional functionally graded sandwich (BFGSW) beams under a moving mass are investigated in this paper. The core of the beams is homogeneous while their two faces are of three-phase bidirectional functionally graded material.

TiO2 has strong photocatalytic activity, which can oxidize and decompose impurities on surfaces and in the air. Therefore, TiO2 is used as an additive in the self-cleaning coating and paint industries. In this work, SiO2 is used in the TiO2/SiO2 mixture as the nucleus to homogenize the dispersion components. TiO2 and SiO2 nanoparticles are synthesized by the sol-gel method combined with ultrasound that suits the size range of 10-30 nm.

In this work, the free vibration analysis of Timoshenko microbeams made of the Functionally Graded Material (FGM) on the Winkler–Paternak elastic foundation based on the Modified Coupled Stress Theory (MCST) is investigated. Material characteristics of the beam vary throughout the thickness according to the power distribution and are estimated though Mori–Tanaka, Hashin–Shtrikman and Voigt homogenization techniques.
