Ebook "Neotropical insect galls" brings to light the most recent findings on the biogeography, biodiversity, host plant induction and natural history of gall inducing insects in the Neotropical region. We attempt to summarize the work done so far in the region, promote several syntheses on many aspects such as host induction, host specialization, distribution among the several vegetation types and zones, the origin of super hosts and the mechanisms leading to geographical patterns in their distribution.

The findings suggest that perceived or real economic benefits generated support for wind farms, especially when those benefits strengthened livelihoods and land-tenure security of host communities where livelihoods depended on fishing and farming and few employment opportunities exist. Black gram [Vigna mungo (L.) Hepper] is one of the most important grain legumes and attacked by several foliar diseases that cause premature drying of leaves, resulting in reduced black gram yields. An experiment was conducted to find out the stable source of resistance against Anthracnose (Colletotrichum lindemuthianum). Seasonality is one of the most important factors in the tourism industry in Nepal. Economically, it can have many negative influences as a destination, but at the same time it may give a time for improvement of services provided by host community as well as it may recover to the service providers from the stress of the peak season. This paper highlights the pattern of seasonal variation of tourist arrival in Nepal at different time on the monthly and quarterly basis. It is found that the seasonal variation is the maximum in autumn (128.801) and minimum in summer (81.857).

The technique of in vitro propagation of Arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi has been developed over the past few decades and opens up areas of studying plant-fungi interactions. The study aims to explore the learning experiences of Vietnamese master students in the field of engineering at a Taiwan university to offer a well-known perception of learning experiences for Vietnamese prospective engineering students who look for foreign degrees in non-English-speaking Asian countries like Taiwan. Interviews with 14 master students were undertaken. The findings reveal that the Vietnamese students experience with 3 types of language-related problems in Taiwan: English language proficiency, lack of English medium of instruction from the host, and Chinese language issues.

Botnets are large networks of bots (compromised machines) that are under the control of a small number of bot masters. They pose a significant threat to Internet’s communications and applications. A botnet relies on command and control (C2) communications channels traffic between its members for its attack execution. C2 traffic occurs prior to any attack; hence, the detection of botnet’s C2 traffic enables the detection of members of the botnet before any real harm happens. We analyze C2 traffic and find that it exhibits a periodic behavior.

Schistosomiasis is a debilitating parasitic disease caused by platyhelminthes of the genus Schistosoma, notably Schistosoma mansoni, Schistosoma haematobium, and Schistosoma japonicum. Pioneer researchers used radiation-attenuated (RA) schistosome larvae to immunize laboratory rodent and non-human primate hosts. Significant and reproducible reduction in challenge worm burden varying from 30% to 90% was achieved, providing a sound proof that vaccination against this infection is feasible.

Streptococcus dysgalactiae, the long recognized mammalian pathogen, has currently received a major concern regarding fish bacterial infection. Adhesion to host epithelial cells and the presence of wall-associated plasminogen binding proteins are prerequisites to Streptococcus infection. This is the first study of the occurrence of nephritis-associated plasminogen-binding receptor (NAPlr) and a-enolase genes in piscine S. dysgalactiae subspecies dysgalactiae (SDSD) isolates.

The effect of the coordination of a Ni(II) ion on the electronic and magnetic properties of the ligand salophen were experimentally and theoretically evaluated. The complex [Ni(salophen)] was synthesized and characterized through FTIR and an elemental analysis. Spectral data obtained using DMSO as a solvent showed that the ligand absorption profile was significantly disturbed after the coordination of the metal atom.
