Methods: Thirty healthy young male volunteers were randomly allocated to either the low-intensity resistance training with heat stress group or the control group.

The present study aimed at enhancing the shelf life of pear fruits. The fruits of pear varieties namely Patharnakh, Kashmirinakh and Baggugosha were stored under zero energy cool chamber (ZECC) storage using different types of packaging materials i.e. corrugated fiber board boxes (CFB), individual fruit packing and in 1 kg packing in polyethylene (PE) bags of 0.01 mm and 0.05 mm thickness. Irrespective of the treatments, a continuous decrease in specific gravity of the fruits was observed with the lapse of time. Of the three varieties, the Patharnakh fruits had maximum shelf life.

High moisture content of broccoli limits its post harvest longevity. So in order to make it available for a longer period the vegetable is needed to be preserved. For this, the present study was undertaken where dehydration was chosen as a mode of preservation and the experiment was aimed to establish suitable pre drying treatment combination and dehydration temperature for broccoli florets. Hot water blanching and chemicals like calcium chloride, citric acid, sodium metabisulfite and potassium metabisulfite were used for pre drying treatments.

The cured tubers of variety Kufri Chipsona-4 were subjected to the sprout inhibiting treatment viz., hot water dip treatment (57.5±0.1 oC for 20 min) along with control and were packed in nylon mesh bags, MAP (modified atmosphere packaging) and vacuum packaging. The tubers were stored for 5 weeks at room temperature conditions (32±2oC; RH ~90%)and sampled at 7- day interval. A progressive increase in decay loss and shriveling of potato tubers was observed during storage. Hot water dip treated tubers showed significantly lower decay loss and shriveling than untreated tubers.

Banana inflorescence is consumed as a vegetable in many Asian countries, is also an excellent source of various minerals such as magnesium, copper and iron. However using it as a vegetable sometimes becomes very demanding as it is very difficult to remove the bracts and extract out the flowers for cooking. The dehumidifier is a key component in liquid desiccant air-conditioning systems. Analytical solutions have more advantages than numerical solutions in studying the dehumidifier performance parameters. This paper presents the performance results of exit parameters from an analytical model of an adiabatic cross-flow liquid desiccant air dehumidifier. Calcium chloride is used as desiccant material in this investigation. A program performing the analytical solution is developed using the engineering equation solver software.
