Herbicide resistance in Avena sterilis subsp ludoviciana populations from the wheat fields of Turkey
A study was conducted to find out the extent of wild oat problems throughout Turkey including herbicide resistance. This paper includes results of determining the herbicide resistance status of AVELU populations to ACCase and ALS inhibitors that are fenoxaprop (Fen), pinoxaden (Pin), tralkoxydim (Tra), mesosulfuron+iodosulfuron (MeI), and proxycarbazone+mesosulfuron (PrM). AVELU seeds were collected from 213 wheat fields throughout Turkey in 2014–2015 and the response to selected five herbicides was tested under screen-house.

The combined application of long-lasting insecticidal nets (LLINs) and indoor residual spraying (IRS) are commonly used malaria interventions that target indoor Anopheles vectors. Recent studies on the effects of house screening (HS) and LLINs have demonstrated a reduction in indoor vector densities and malaria when the interventions are combined.

A screen house experiment was conducted during rabi season of 2018-19 to find out the effect of different levels of P and Zn on wheat yield, concentration of different nutrients in grain and straw in low and high P status soil. Five levels of P (0, 30, 60, 120 and 180 mg P kg-1 soil) and four levels of Zn (0, 2.5, 5 and 10 mg Zn kg-1 soil) were applied in completely randomized design with three replications.

Cowpea [Vigna unguiculata (L.) Walp.] is a legume whose immature pods are consumed and marketed. However, it suffers yield losses due to attacks of aphid-transmitted mosaic disease. The present work is a study of the genetic resistance of twelve (12) varieties of vegetable cowpea to Cowpea Aphid-Borne Mosaic Virus (CABMV) at Kamboinsé. The objective of the study was to contribute to the enhancement and improvement of yields through the development of vegetable cowpea varieties resistant to CABMV.

Thirty varieties of turmeric Curcuma longa L. were screened in the field against Pythium aphanidermatum for one year during 2016-2017 at College of Horticulture, Anantharajupeta, Y.S.R. Kadapa, Andhra Pradesh. These varieties were also screened in lab and net house (pot) condition. Out of 30 varieties two varieties (Salem and Prathibha) showed resistance to rhizome rot and five (TCP-129, VK-9, IC-330113, IC-033007 and IC-212606) were moderately resistant, providing good material for developing rhizome rot resistant turmeric varieties.

The cultivated pigeon pea (Cajanus cajan) is one of the most important source of protein for worlds marginal and vegetarian population. Sterility mosaic disease (SMD) also known as “green plague of pigeonpea” is one of the severe threats in pigeon pea production causing severe yield loss. Keeping this in view, identification of SMD resistant cultivars with better understanding of inheritance of disease were key consideration for the present study. RILs were screened for SMD resistance with leaf stapling technique at Green house, IBT, PJTSAU during Kharif 2012 and 2013.

Brown plant hopper (BPH), Nilaparvata lugens Stal is one of the most serious rice pest in India. Growing of resistance varieties is the most effective and environment-friendly strategy for protecting the crop from BPH. In the present study we evaluated the forty entries of plant hopper screening trial against BPH under glass house condition. The trial material was received from All India Coordinated Rice Improvement Programme (AICRIP) DRR, Hyderabad during kharif 2011.

Reaction of chilli genotypes against chilli veinal mottle virus (ChiVMV) under glass house condition
Chilli veinal mottle virus (ChiVMV) is an aphid-borne major destructive virus affecting chilli crop. To identify sources of resistance against ChiVMV is essential. In this study, fifty chilli genotypes were screened for ChiVMV resistance through mechanical inoculation in an insect-proof glass house.

The investigation was conducted on three mungbean [Vigna radiata (L.) Wilczek] genotypes namely MH-421, MH-318 and Basanti genotypes to study their biochemical, and yield response in relation to terminal heat stress tolerance. The plants were raised in earthen pots (30 cm diameter) filled with 5.5 kg of dune sand (Typic Torrispamments) under screen house conditions. High temperature stress was given by manipulation of sowing dates i.e. normal sown (12th March, 2013) and late sown (29th March, 2013).

A potted experiment was carried out in the net house of the Plant Breeding Unit, TRRI, Aduthurai in 2020 to screen and evaluate the performance of diverse rice genotypes for anaerobic germination ability with a view to select the suitable genotypes for multiple stress tolerance (drought and anaerobic germination) that will fit into the existing niche in the DSR. The aim of this experiment is to identify short duration genotypes with early vigour and potential to germinate under anaerobic condition.

The experiment consisted of 2 levels of rhizobia (with and without inoculation), two stress levels (With and without stress) and five cultivars of P. vulgaris (L.) (KAT B9, KAT B1, F9 Kidney Selection, F8 Drought Line and JESCA). The field experiment was conducted for two consecutive seasons, while the screen house study was done in a season. Results showed that proline content (μmol g-1 .
