Thirty varieties of turmeric Curcuma longa L. were screened in the field against Pythium aphanidermatum for one year during 2016-2017 at College of Horticulture, Anantharajupeta, Y.S.R. Kadapa, Andhra Pradesh. These varieties were also screened in lab and net house (pot) condition. Out of 30 varieties two varieties (Salem and Prathibha) showed resistance to rhizome rot and five (TCP-129, VK-9, IC-330113, IC-033007 and IC-212606) were moderately resistant, providing good material for developing rhizome rot resistant turmeric varieties.

Brown plant hopper (BPH), Nilaparvata lugens Stal is one of the most serious rice pest in India. Growing of resistance varieties is the most effective and environment-friendly strategy for protecting the crop from BPH. In the present study we evaluated the forty entries of plant hopper screening trial against BPH under glass house condition. Phenotypic characterization of Nandidurga goats was conducted in its breeding tract. A total of 17 flocks were surveyed in 8 villages of Challakere and Chitradurga talukas of Chitradurga district. The observed flock size was 25-30 with 2-3 bucks, 12-14 does and about 10-12 kids. Smaller flocks were generally housed in the part of the residence, whereas the larger flocks (30-40 goats) were housed separately. Usually the goat sheds were of open type with a thatched/ iron sheet roof inside it and the area was guarded by some locally available materials.

The most important diseases of eucalyptus in the plantations are leaf and shoot blight caused by Cryptosporiopsis eucalypti and associated with defoliation, dieback and mortality of eucalyptus trees. Disease causes major losses in nurseries and plantations resulting in failure of planting material and reduction of biomass production or loss of germplasm. An experiment was conducted at the poly house, Dept. of Horticulture, College of Agriculture, RVSKVV, Indore, M. P. during the year 2015- 16.The experimental material was comprised of ten varieties grown in Randomized Block Design with three replications, to record morphological, phonological, yield and its attributing traits. On the basis of the result it was found that the hybrid variety Jhalri Priya 5 showed superior result under polyhouse condition and economically viable for polyhouse growers.
