In this study, nine ferulic and caffeic acid-based 1,2,4 and 1,3,4 oxadiazole molecular hybrids were synthesized and their cytotoxic activity was evaluated mainly against Glioblastoma (GBM) cell lines. Compounds 1 and 5 exhibited the highest inhibitory activity against three different GBM cell lines (LN229, T98G, and U87), without toxicity to healthy human mesenchymal stem cells (hMSC). In addition, their cytotoxicity was also evaluated against three additional cancer cell lines and more inhibitory results were found than GBM cell lines.

For this purpose, primary hBM-MSCs with wild type (WT, C/C), heterozygote (HTZ, C/T) and homozygote (HMZ, T/T) for the MTHFR gene were obtained with ethical committee permission and donor informed. Mutations were detected using RFLP and Sanger sequencing methods from genomic DNA isolated from cells, colonization properties were investigated by CFU-F test and proliferative differences were investigated by MTT test.

To evaluate the efficacy of platelet-rich plasma in combination with human mesenchymal stem cells from autologous adipose tissue for knee osteoarthritis treatment. In this study, a hydroxyapatite (HA) based scaffold was used together with human adipose stem cells (hASCs), human bone marrow stem cells (hBMSCs) and gingival epithelial cells to mimic human tooth dentin-pulp-enamel tissue complexes and model an immature tooth at the late bell stage in vitro. Characteristics of the scaffold were determined via SEM, FTIR, pore size and density measurements. The osteogenic differentiation markers BMP2, BMP4, COL1A1, OPN, OCN and PF4 evaluated using RT-PCR. The tumor dimensions in the hMSCs group were significantly higher than those of the remaining groups (p < 0.01). The number of metastatic foci in the BMP2+hMSCs group was significantly lower than those of the other groups (p < 0.01). The current results showed that the intraperitoneal route could be efficiently used for targeting hMSCs to the tumoral tissues for effective BMP2 delivery.
