Hybrid nanostructures

There has been significant interest in designing heterostructured nanoparticles with excellent synergistic properties and multifunctionality. Herein, this work reports on the design of reactive oxygen species- (ROS-) responsive Ag decorated TiO2 hybrid nanorods (HNRs) with dual functionalities of enhanced photodynamic therapy and antibacterial activity.

The goal of the thesis: The thesis examined the effect of different nanostructured morphologies in conductive polymer films (PPy, PANi) on NH3 gas sensitivity. The thesis fabricated the nanostructured hybrid films between metal oxide (NiO) and conductive polymer (PPy) successfully and examined the NH3 gas sensitivity properties of the NiO / PPy hybrid film.

This work aims to fabricate ferrite - (Ag, Au) hybrid nanomaterials with a SPR peak located in the near-infrared region, high magnetic/optical-to-thermal conversion and ability to contrast MRI images for both T1- and T2- weighted modes, which are strongly bactericidal and able to be applied in biomedicine.

With one-dimensional nanostructure, the AgNWs connects effectively together many rGO islands and reduce significantly their contact resistance so that NH3 sensing signal is improved and complete recovery of the sensor is nearly achieved at room temperature. Especially, all these signals are further enhanced when the AuNPs (diameter ~ 30 nm) are added into the hybrid.
