Magnolia citrata Noot. & Chalermglin was collected in the Central Highlands of Vietnam and examined for its essential oils’ chemical compositions and antimicrobial activities. The essential oils were obtained from the leaves, twigs, and stem barks of M. citrata using hydrodistillation, then analyzed using Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS) and evaluated for antimicrobial activities.

The essential oils were also tested for their antioxidant, anti-imflammatory, antimicrobial and cytotoxic activities. The HD essential oil sample showed inhibitory activity against 6/8 tested microorganisms, i.e., Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Escherichia coli, Bacillus subtillis, Candida albicans, and Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The MHD and EHD exhibited the inhibitory activity against three strains E. coli, A. niger and F. oxysporum. The UHD inhibited E. coli and F. oxysporum.

The essential oil (EO) of Cota tinctoria var. tinctoria was analyzed using GC-FID / MS. A total of 51 compounds were determined from this taxon, accounting for 99.79% in hydrodistillation. Monoterpenes were the primary chemical class for the volatile organic compounds in the EO (36.1%, 13 compounds). Borneol (18.1%), camphor (14.9%), and β-pinene (11.3%) were the major components in the EO of C. tinctoria var. tinctoria.

The essential oils of Actinolema macrolema Boiss. (Apiaceae) were obtained by hydrodistillation in the first 3 (sample A) and the following 3 h (sample B) from crushed fruits and dried leaves (sample C), which were subsequently analyzed by GC and GC-MS. Overall, 64 components were characterized, representing 93% of the leaf oil. Thirty components were characterized from the fruit oil representing 95% of the first fraction and 90% of the second fraction consecutively.

The aim of this work is to valorise the species Ammodaucus leucotrichus Coss which is known by its abundance in perillaldehyde. The plant material was collected from two regions in Morocco: Errachidia and Smara region, then was hydrodistilled. The essential oils (EOs) obtained were firstly characterized by gas chromatography coupled to mass spectrometry (GC-MS). Secondly the EO with the major component is the perillaldehyde was used as starting material to semi-synthesize three p-menthane monoterpenoids.

Laggera tomentosa Sch. Bip. ex Oliv. et Hiern (Asteraceae), an endemic Ethiopian medicinal plant, is traditionally used to treat various ailments. Previously, the chemical constituents of the essential oil (EO) of its leaves and inflorescence were documented. However, no data about the chemical compositions of other parts of the EOs of the plant have been reported to date. Moreover, there are no previous biological activity reports on any parts of the EOs of this plant.

The essential oils (EOs) constituents have trade importance due to their bioactivities. In this research, the essential oil of the roots of Chrysopogon zizanioides (L.) Roberty cultivated in Giresun was obtained by hydrodistillation. Then, the chemical composition and biological activities of Chrysopogon zizanioides root essential oil (CEO) were studied. Thirty compounds were identified by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) and the major compounds were determined as isobutyl-angelate (11.15%), α-muurolene (10.56%), α-cedrene (8.42%), α-patchoulene (8.

Citrus peels are a rich source of essential oils which can be extracted by using a hydrodistillation process. The extracts contain D-limonene (70-90%) are major component. The essential oil from blood orange results the great amount of antimicrobial properties which are used against the bacteria (E. coli, B. aureus, S. typhimurim, L. moncytogene and E. faecalis). Citrus peel contains a very good amount of flavonones including several polymethoxylated flavones
