This study aimed to assess the effect of cadmium (Cd2+) concentrations on biovolume, pigments, malondialdehyde (MDA), hydrogen peroxide, proline, total phenolic compounds, total protein, and total carbohydrate contents of Cladophora glomerata. Cultivations of the alga (8.0 ± 0.1 g as fresh weight) were exposed to 7.5, 15, 30, and 60 mg/L of Cd2+ ions in 500 mL flasks containing 400 mL of the medium on a shaker at 120 rpm for 7 days. Results of Fourier transform infrared analyses indicated that the amide, anionic, and amino groups had significant rolesin the binding of Cd2+ on C. glomerata.

The kinetics and mechanism of silver(I)-catalyzed oxidation of allyl alcohol with peroxodiphosphate in acetate buffers have been studied. The rate is independent of allyl alcohol concentration. The effect of other reaction parameters such as hydrogen and acetate ions has also been studied. The rate law accounting for all experimental observations corresponds to the proposed mechanism. The energy and entropy of activation have also been evaluated by employing Eyring plots.

Self-propelled catalytic micromotors offer considerable promise in terms of many applications. Catalytic micromotors are strongly influenced by the presence and concentration of specific ions and chemicals in the environment, making them useful as sensors and actuators. In this work, copper (Cu)-platinum (Pt) micromotors were fabricated by using the magnetron sputtering method for the first time in the literature and their applications based on the detection of miRNA-21 were evaluated.

Colletotrichum musae inciting margin leaf blight of banana was isolated using the infected samples showing typical symptoms. The changes in growth and sporulation of the obtained culture when exposed to different abiotic factors such as media, hydrogen ion concentration and light were recorded to check their influence on fungal development.

A total of thirty isolates of A. alternata were collected from eastern Uttar Pradesh and parts of Bihar, India. All thirty isolates were evaluated for their growth and rate of growth at three different H+ ion concentrations (pH) viz. four, six and eight in PDA medium. Radial growth for all of the isolates of A. alternata was also found significantly maximum at pH 6 followed by pH 8 and pH 4. Also, it was noted that none of the isolate had statistically similar growth in different pH range.

Microbes play crucial role in bioremediation of hydrocarbon contaminated soil and solid waste. In this study, poly-aromatic hydrocarbons resistant fungi were isolated from soil samples of different areas including Delhi-NCR and Meerut city (Uttar Pradesh), the bioremediation of hydrocarbons like naphthalene and pyrene by these isolates were characterized to evaluate their applicability for polyaromatic hydrocarbon remediation from contaminated soil. The optimum pH and temperature conditions for growth and hydrocarbon degradation were determined for isolates.

Introduction: Hydrogen sulfide (H2S) is a colorless gas with the smell of putrid eggs; it can exist in both nonionic and ionic forms in aqueous solution. The ratio of the nonionic form to the total ionized one is influenced by concentration of hydrogen ion in the solution. Under acidic conditions, H2S does not ionized and evaporated from water; under alkaline conditions it is easily ionized and retained in the solution.
