The study "Efficacy of hydrolytic enzyme preparation from Aspergillus Spp. on the fattening broiler chicken fed with corn soybean based diets" investigated the effect of enzyme preparations made of A. niger DB 106 (Cong and Hang, 2005), A. oryzae NM1 (Ly and Hang, 2006) and A. niger XP phytase (Xuan and Hang, 2006) supplemented to corn soy-bean based diets on growth performance and feed utilization efficiency of fattening chickens.

In plant-derived animal feedstuffs, nearly 80 % of the total phosphorus content is stored as phytate. However, phytate is poorly digested by monogastric animals such as poultry, swine and fish, as they lack the hydrolytic enzyme phytase; hence it is regarded as a nutritionally inactive compound from a phosphate bioavailability point of view.
