Hydroponic nutrient solution

Aquaponics combines two technologies, recirculating aquaculture systems and hydroponics in a closed system. The nutrients recycled from fish tanks supply nutrients for vegetables grown in hydroponics, however in some cases, the nutrient levels may not be sufficient for the optimal growth and yield of plants.

The nutrient solution is the decisive factor for the growth and development of hydroponic plants. This study was conducted to determine the effect of five nutrient solutions, namely, Hoagland, Knop, Hydro Umat F, BKFAST, and Bio-Life, on the growth and development of gerbera (Gerbera jamesonii) in the hydroponic system.

The aim of this study was to verify the effects of application of H2O2 on salt tolerance and oil production in basil cv. ‘Gennaro de Menta’ grown in a hydroponic system. Seedlings were subjected to 3 levels of H2O2 (0, 1, and 1000 μM) in a nutrient solution during 2 different exposure periods (24 and 48 h) and 2 levels of NaCl (0 and 80 mM). The plants were harvested at preflowering (at 15 days) and postflowering (at 25 days). At 25 days, the application of 1 μM H2O2 /48 h and its reapplication at preflowering increased leaf dry mass production compared to the other salt treatments.

An experiment to investigate “Quality flower production of Marigold in hydroponics” was conducted at Assam Agricultural University, Department of Horticulture. The experiment was laid out completely randomized design with two factor and three replications. In the experiment marigold plants were grown in five different hydroponic systems (NFT, Water Culture, Aggregate systems with Sand, Cocopeat and Sawdust as potting media) with three different level of hydroponic nutrient solution (EC 1.0 dS/m, EC,1.5 dS/m and EC 2.0 dS/m).

Nowadays, hydroponic models have been widely applied in Vietnamese cultivation. Hydroponics is a very modern method that promises to make a lot of valuable contributions to the agriculture of Vietnam. Boron efficiency of 16 oilseed rape genotypes was tested using both hydroponic and pot-soil growing techniques. From the nutrient solution experiment (0.1 and 10 μM B), 4 representative contrasting genotypes were selected based on relative root and shoot growth.
