A study on Mollusks’ species composition and distribution on dead coral from Quang Ngai to Cat Ba was conducted during the field survey between Vietnam and Russia on the AKADEMIC OPARIN RC vessel in 2021 at 39 reef stations in 14 study areas. By comparative morphology method, the authors have identified 135 taxa of Mollusca belonging to 48 families, 4 classes on coral reefs. The species composition of Mollusca was slightly different between study areas.

The global emergence of low water availability causes extensive damage to crops in many regions. Although the responses of plants to drought stress have been extensively investigated, molecular studies on plants with different carboxylation pathways are limited. Therefore, we aimed to identify quantitative differences in proteins functioning in differential drought tolerance of C3 (Cleome spinosa) and C4 (C. gynandra) species.

Ecologists use various data mining techniques to make predictions and estimations, to identify patterns in datasets and relationships between qualitative and quantitative variables, or to classify variables. The aim of this study was to investigate if the application of data mining could be used to study geographical variation in the morphometry, craniometry, and diet of a mammalian species (Martes foina), and to determine whether data mining can complement genetic analysis to recognize subspecies.

Some species are exceptionally common in landscapes heavily impacted by humans, such as agricultural lands. This study was carried out over a period of 2 years (July 2012 to June 2014) in the arid agricultural landscape of Pothwar Plateau, Pakistan, to identify adaptations that govern bird distribution and abundance across 2 different cropping systems associated with differences in water availability. We used regular surveys and foraging observations to quantify species abundance, distribution, and habits. We then examined morphological correlations with ecological attributes.

Knowledge of a predator’s diet is important for understanding its ecology and for predicting its influence on the dynamics of prey populations. We investigated the spatial distribution and diet composition of the leopard (Panthera pardus) in the northeastern Himalayan region of Pakistan. We used molecular scatology technique to identify scats of common leopard collected from the field. The leopard was recorded at 30 different surveyed sites with an elevational range between 757–1891 m a.s.l. Its diet comprised 17 prey species, including both wild and domestic prey.

The ant community living in leaf litter was assessed in 65 forest sites in the Brazilian Atlantic rainforest in the southern region of the state of Bahia, Brazil. In addition, we aimed to understand the patterns between taxonomic and functional diversities using two different resolutions of classification of ants into functional groups. We identified 364 ant species belonging to 68 genera in 10 subfamilies in 65 regions.

A reexamination of the tardigrade collection from the Museo Nacional de Ciencias Naturales (MNCN) in Madrid was carried out. Specimens from the genera Milnesium, Macrobiotus, and Paramacrobiotus were verified in order to provide their correct identification and 15 taxa were identified. Moreover, a list of corrected species identifications from MNCN is provided. Fourteen specimens and 16 eggs, identified previously as Macrobiotus recens, were attributed to a species new for science. Macrobiotus noemiae sp. nov. is most similar to Mac. naskreckii and Mac.

In this study, water quality parameters and zooplankton fauna were investigated from 14 different water wells in Yayladağı District of Hatay Province. The study was conducted seasonally between October 2015 and July 2016. A total of 51 species were identified, including 30 species of rotifers, 9 species of cladocerans, and 12 species of copepods. The most abundant species, Keratella cochlearis, Bosmina longirostris, and Tropocyclops prasinus, were found in 11, 13, and 12 wells, respectively.

Despite the increasing importance of species richness of blowfly fauna and their environmental, medical, and agricultural importance in the world they are poorly studied in Turkey. This study was carried out in 2014 and 2015 to determine the distribution, abundance, and species richness of blowfly species in Isparta Province of Turkey. A total of 15 species (10 from Calliphoridae, 4 from Polleniidae, and 1 from Rhiniidae) were identified from 13 different localities.

Methods for morphological identification of water frogs from the Pelophylax esculentus complex have changed over the decades. Still, without resort to genetic analyses, water frogs remain among the most difficult European amphibians to distinguish due to their hybrid nature. The aim of this study was to identify a reliable set of quantitative and qualitative morphological characters that objectively resolve species’ identification in the Pelophylax esculentus complex and provide a rapid and robust procedure for taxon identification.

Maintaining landscape connectivity through identifying movement corridors is the most recommended conservation strategy to reduce the negative impacts of habitat loss and isolation. The basis of most connectivity modelling approaches for modelling corridors is that species choose movement pathways based on the same criteria they used to choose habitats. However, species behave differently in using landscape elements for moving than for selecting habitat. In other words, suitability of a given landscape feature may differ between moving and habitat use stages.

Around 200 different lipopeptides (LPs) have been identified to date, most of which are produced via Bacillus and Pseudomonas species. The clinical nature of the lipopeptide (LP) has led to a big surge in its research. They show antimicrobial and antitumor activities due to which mass-scale production and purification of LPs are beneficial. Response surface methodology (RSM) approach has emerged as an alternative in the field of computational biology for optimizing the reaction parameters using statistical models. In the present study, Pseudomonas sp.

This study aimed to isolate and identify different Enterococcus spp. from diverse sources including dromedary raw milk, rhizospheric soil and natural saline water samples and to determine their antimicrobial activities and safety aspects. From these sources, distinct strains of E. faecium, E. durans, E. hirae, and E. gallinarum species were detected.

This shows an intraspecies difference between Bacteroides species in the Philippines and Japan. This difference is a result of variations in the gut microbiome such as host species, diet, and geography. Results of this study will expand the present sequence database of Bacteroides from ducks that can be used in identifying sources of fecal pollution in the environment.

With the aim of clarifying the number of Tulostoma species in Macedonia, and to verify some previous collections, molecular analyses were carried out on four morphologically identified species collected in different habitats (at the edges of oak or juniper forests, pine plantations, meadows, rocky places, roadsides). Sixty-two new sequences were generated and compared with recently published sequences included in public databases. According to the barcoding sequences fourteen Tulostoma species are identified in Macedonia and ten of them were assigned to known species: Tulostoma brumale, T.

The synthesis of 3 benzimidazole-based ionic Pd(II)-NHC complexes (NHC:N -heterocyclic carbene) is presented. The structures of the complexes are as follows: [NHC-PdBr3]−[NHC]+. The ionic palladium(II)-NHC complexes were synthesized in high yields and were fully characterized by nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, LC-MS/MS, and elemental analysis. These complexes have been identified as active catalysts in Suzuki–Miyaura reactions in a solution of 2-propanol and water at room temperature for different aryl bromides.

Long non protein coding RNAs (lncRNAs) have been identified in many different organisms and cell types. Emerging examples emphasize the biological importance of these RNA species but their regulation and functions remain poorly understood. In the filamentous fungus Neurospora crassa, the annotation and characterization of lncRNAs is incomplete.

Despite increasing interest in γδ T cells and their non-classical behaviour, most studies focus on animals with low numbers of circulating γδ T cells, such as mice and humans. Arguably, γδ T cell functions might be more prominent in chickens where these cells form a higher proportion of the circulatory T cell compartment. The TCR repertoire defines different subsets of γδ T cells, and such analysis is facilitated by well-annotated TCR loci. γδ T cells are considered at the cusp of innate and adaptive immunity but most functions have been identified in γδ low species.
