In the present investigation diverse genotypes of French bean were evaluated to identify higher yielding genotypes with important yield component traits. Seven genotypes of pole type French bean viz., EC-530833, IC-320968, EC-500638, IC-319827, EC-540796, IC319423 and EC-530838were assessed for performance at Main Agriculture Research Station, Raichur.

40 (forty) yellow seeded genotypes of linseed taken from AICRP on linseed, Indira Gandhi Krishi Vishwavidyalaya, Raipur (Chhattisgarh) along with one check variety surabhi (yellow seeded check) were evaluated for estimation of seed yield and oil content. The high significant and positive correlation of oil yield per plant with 1000 seed weight suggested that heavy weight seed might have higher oil content. Therefore, selection based on 1000 seed weight could be depending on rich oil yield for the development of varieties.

The present investigation was carried out to study the magnitude of genetic variability, correlation and path coefficient among 20 traits in ten amaranthus accessions belonging to Amaranthus tricolor. Comparison of genotypic co-efficient of variation (GCV) and phenotypic co-efficient variation (PCV) for different traits indicated that the values of PCV were higher as compared to GCV due to the influence of environment. High GCV and PCV were observed for leaf length, leaf breadth, stem weight, seed yield per plant and anthocyanin content.

Correlation and path coefficient analysis was carried out to identify suitable selection indices in 21 red tamarind genotypes for 15 characters. Correlation analysis revealed that length of inflorescence (cm), number of flowers/inflorescence, number of fruits/inflorescence, fruit length (cm), fruit breadth (cm), fruit weight (g), pulp weight (g) and anthocyanin content (mg/litre) contributed to a large extent to yield per tree.

The present investigation were carried out understand heterosis and gene action for yield and quality traits in cucumber genotypes. The materials consist of three lines and four testers and the resultant 12 hybrids through Line x Tester mating design. The present estimation of heterosis identified that L2XT2 (Koradacherry local x Orathanadu local) being the superior hybrid for most of the traits by expressing higher significance Relative Heterosis, Heterobeltiosis and Standard Heterosis.

One hundred one genotypes/lines of mungbean germplasm were screened against MYMV, cercospora and anthracnose under natural field conditions at Tripura centre lembucherra. The germplasm was categorized in to resistant and susceptible depending upon severity of disease. The present investigation aimed to identify stable both MYMV, cercospora and anthracnose resistant lines with high yielding through screening under natural condition. The experimental material consisted of 101germplasm lines screened under field condition.

An experiment was carried out in Randomized Block design with thirteen genotypes of sweet basil each replicated thrice. Assessing variability is essential to identify the most important traits in sweet basil genotypes which help in crop improvement programme. The population genotypic coefficients of variation (GCV), phenotypic coefficients of variation (PCV), broad sense heritability ), genetic advance and genetic advance as per cent of mean (GAM) for twenty four characters were analysed to record the degree of variability of sweet basil genotypes.

Salinity tolerance genotypes is useful to cross with high yielding existing varieties to develop high yield hybrid that can grow in saline soil and saline water conditions. The different species of Brassica namely, B. juncea, B. carinata, B. napus B. campestris var toria were screened for salt tolerance and tolerant genotypes were identified. Comparisons of Brassica species use to identify salinity tolerance species and screening individual genotypes of rapeseed-mustard. A total number of 281 genotypes consisting 225 B. juncea, 34 B. carinata, 18 B. napus, 4 B.

Maize is one of the most important grain crops in South Asia and is produced throughout the country under diverse environments. The grain of quality protein maize (QPM) varieties contain nearly twice as much lysine and tryptophan, amino acids that are essential for humans and monogastric animals. Evaluation of maize hybrids under different environments would be useful for identifying hybrids that combine stability with high yield potential for diverse environments.

Variability in seed yield of castor genotypes and its association between different yield contributing traits as well as genetic advance were studied during kharif-2012 with 23 CRIDA castor genotypes under rain-fed conditions in alfisols. Superior genotypes for yield and its components were identified. The variability for genotypes was significant for seed yield and all its four components studied viz., number of branches, number of nodes, capsule number and capsule weight.
