Identify promising germplasm lines

Our objective was to evaluate G. hirsutum cotton lines, which includes indigenous, exotic collection, released varieties and lines developed from different breeding strategies were evaluated in alpha lattice designs with two replications along with five standard G. hirsutum check varieties viz., Sahana, Surabhi, MCU 5, DS 28 and ARBH 813 for yield and fibre quality traits.

One hundred one genotypes/lines of mungbean germplasm were screened against MYMV, cercospora and anthracnose under natural field conditions at Tripura centre lembucherra. The germplasm was categorized in to resistant and susceptible depending upon severity of disease. The present investigation aimed to identify stable both MYMV, cercospora and anthracnose resistant lines with high yielding through screening under natural condition. The experimental material consisted of 101germplasm lines screened under field condition.

The present investigation entitled “Genetic evaluation of CMS lines and their maintainers for yield and horticultural traits in cabbage (Brassica oleracea var.capitataL.)” was carried out at „Vegetable Research Farm‟ of the Department of Vegetable Science and Floriculture, CSKHPKV Palampur with the objectives to identify the promising CMS lines and their maintainers and to find out genetic variability. High yielding CMS lines with good combining ability is a pre-requisitefor hybrid development in cabbage.

The present study aimed to estimate the general and specific combining ability variances and their effects, and extent of heterobeltiosis and economic heterosis for different quantitative characters in yellow sarson. Line × Tester analysis including 11 local germplasm lines and four testers illustrated the preponderance sca over gca for all the traits studied. Based on desirable GCA effects, PYSC-11-3, PYSC-11-36, PYSC-11-44 and PYSC-11-46 among lines and B-9 among testers were identified as promising donars for seed yield.
