Neoadjuvant immune checkpoint blockade (ICB) combined with chemoradiotherapy offers high pathologic complete response (pCR) rate for patients with locally advanced esophageal squamous cell carcinomas (ESCC). But the dynamic tumor immune microenvironment modulated by such neoadjuvant therapy remains unclear.

The gut microbiome plays an important role in immune modulation. Specifically, presence or absence of certain gut bacterial taxa has been associated with better antitumor immune responses. Furthermore, in trials using fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT) to treat melanoma patients unresponsive to immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICI), complete responses (CR), partial responses (PR), and durable stable disease (SD) have been observed.

Chimeric antigen receptor T (CAR-T) cell therapy, a new adoptive cell therapy, has been widely used to treat lymphoma patients. Immune checkpoint blockade may improve the cytotoxicity of CAR-T cells by reducing the failure of CAR-T cells and improving antitumor activity. It has shown promising efficacy.

Xeroderma pigmentosum is an extremely serious genetic disorder defined by sensitivity to sunlight, resulting in sunburn and pigment changes. If patients are not completely protected from ultraviolet radiation, xeroderma pigmentosum is characterized by a greatly increased risk of sunlight-induced cutaneous neoplasms.

Collecting duct carcinoma and sarcomatoid renal cell carcinoma are tumors with poor prognosis. Immune checkpoint inhibitors have been established as the standard treatment for advanced renal cell carcinoma. Some cases of remission of collecting duct carcinoma and sarcomatoid renal cell carcinoma have been reported using immune checkpoint inhibitor interventions.

Perioperative chemotherapy (ChT) and preoperative chemoradiation (CRT) are both the standard treatments for locally advanced gastric cancer (LAGC). CRT can achieve a higher pathological complete regression (pCR) rate, but whether this higher pCR rate can be transformed into a long-term survival benefit remains inconclusive.

Accurate typing of human leukocyte antigen (HLA) is important because HLA genes play important roles in immune responses and disease genesis. Previously available computational methods are database-matching approaches and their outputs are inherently limited by the completeness of already known types, making them unsuitable for discovery of novel alleles.

Immune checkpoint blockade (ICB) therapies have changed the paradigm of cancer therapies. However, anti-tumor response of the ICB is insufficient for many patients and limited to specific tumor types. Despite many preclinical and clinical studies to understand the mechanism of anti-tumor efficacy of ICB, the mechanism is not completely understood.

Mermithid nematodes, such as Ovomermis sinensis, display a broad host range including some lepidopteran pests. Infective juveniles penetrate their host through the cuticle, complete their growth within the hemocoel and eventually kill the host upon their emergence. Hence, mermithid nematodes are considered potential biological control agents of insect pests.

The availability of thousands of complete rice genome sequences from diverse varieties and accessions has laid the foundation for in-depth exploration of the rice genome. One drawback to these collections is that most of these rice varieties have long life cycles, and/or low transformation efficiencies, which limits their usefulness as model organisms for functional genomics studies.

Trogocytosis is defined as the transfer of cell-surface membrane proteins and membrane patches from one cell to another through contact. It is reported that human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2) could be transferred from cancer cells to monocytes via trogocytosis; however, the clinical significance of this is unknown.

Skin infections are most common in dogs, especially pugs are more prone due to its folded skin nature. A Pug of 3 years age weighing around 10 kgwas brought to the Veterinary Clinical Complex, Rajendranagar, Hyderabad with the complaint of alopecia, pruritus, decrease in the appetite and erythematous lesions all over the body. Detailed clinical examination revealed mild increase in temperature (102.50 F) and normal heart rate, pulse and respirations. Skin scrapings and bacterial cultural examination revealed mixed infection of Demodicosis and Staphylococcal pyoderma.

Hepatitis B viral infection is a major health problem worldwide. New cases can be prevented by immunization with hepatitis B vaccine containing the genetically engineered surface antigen. Values of ≥ 10 IU/ml are considered protective. However a small percentage of individuals fail to develop these levels. Such non responders are at risk of acquiring Hepatitis B virus infection. This is of concern especially in health care personnel. The study comprised of 100 female medical students from Mallareddy Medical College for Women, Suraram who completed the standard 3 dose course of vaccination.
