  • Serology is considered the pillar of the syphilis diagnosis. The limitations of traditional serological methods, the advent and availability of new immunochromatographic tests have led to the widespread application of rapid procedures as syphilis screening tools. However, these tests are not widely evaluated. This study was designed to evaluate the performance of a rapid diagnostic test for syphilis known as SD BIOLINE Syphilis 3.0.

  • Vector borne diseases have gained importance in recent decade due to the increasing frequency of sporadic episodes occurring in both endemic and non-endemic areas. The similar clinical presentation and the acute febrile nature results in misdiagnosis often and increases the risk of transmission and morbidity in the vulnerable populations. A study was undertaken to check the prevalence of Chikungunya virus among the febrile patients presenting with body ache or mayalgia between June 2014 and July 2015.

  • Dengue is an important mosquito-borne viral disease of humans. Rapid and easy diagnosis of dengue can assist patient triage and care-management. Serological detection of denguespecific IgM has been the main stay of diagnosis. The detection of dengue NS1 offers a faster presumptive diagnosis. (1) To compare the rapid immunochromatographic card and ELISA methods of NS1 antigen detection. (2) To detect dengue-specific IgM antibodies by MAC-ELISA.

  • Hepatitis B is one of the major Global health problems affecting both developing and developed countries. Hepatitis B is caused by Hepatitis B virus which spreads parentally through blood and sexual contact. There are many markers which gives information regarding stages of hepatitis B viral infection. The HBsAg is used for detection and screening of HBV infection. Aim: The study was carried to compare different parameters viz. sensitivity, specificity, positive and negative predictive values of two immunochromatographic Rapid tests with ELISA for HBsAg. Study Design.

  • To improve the diagnosis of tuberculosis (TB), more rapid diagnostic techniques such as antibody detection based on immunochromatographic methods were developed. The objective of this study was to evaluate the performance of the SD Rapid TB kit for the diagnosis of active TB with serums from patients and close contact controls in Antananarivo, Madagascar. Findings: We conducted a population-based case-control study. The sera of 60 confirmed TB patients and 60 healthy contacts paired for sex and age were tested.
