The pathological phenotype of perineural invasion (PNI) in squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) is prevalent but highly heterogeneous. Methods: Postoperative specimens from all patients with ESCC at Shaanxi Provincial People’s Hospital were evaluated for PNI using haematoxylin and eosin (H&E) staining and S100 immunohistochemistry (IHC). We determined the correlation between PNI status and clinical outcomes.

To investigate the expression and prognostic value of c-Jun in hypopharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (HPSCC). Methods: A retrospective study was performed on a cohort of 99 HPSCC patients. The expression of c-Jun and phosphorylated-c-Jun (p-c-Jun) was evaluated via immunohistochemistry (IHC) staining. Overall survival (OS) and progression-free survival (PFS) were assessed using Kaplan–Meier method and multivariate Cox regression analysis.

To investigate underlying mechanism of JMJD2A in regulating cytoskeleton remodeling in castrationresistant prostate cancer (CRPC) resistant to docetaxel. Tissue samples from CRPC patients were collected, and the expression of JMJD2A, miR-34a and cytoskeleton remodeling-related proteins were evaluated by qPCR, western blot and immunohistochemistry, and pathological changes were observed by H&E staining.

In the tumor microenvironment (TME), the dynamic interaction between tumor cells and immune cells plays a critical role in predicting the prognosis of colorectal cancer. This study introduces a novel approach based on artificial intelligence (AI) and immunohistochemistry (IHC)-stained whole-slide images (WSIs) of colorectal cancer (CRC) patients to quantitatively assess the spatial associations between tumor cells and immune cells.

The development of lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) involves the interactions between cell proliferation and death. Autophagy-dependent ferroptosis, a distinctive cell death process, was implicated in a multitude of diseases, whereas no research revealing the relationship between autophagy-dependent ferroptosis and LUAD pathogenesis was reported.

Temozolomide (TMZ) resistance remains the main therapy challenge in patients with glioblastoma multiforme (GBM). TTK Protein Kinase (TTK) contributes to the radioresistance and chemoresistance in many malignancies. However, the role of TTK in the TMZ resistance of GBM cells remains unknown.

Mechanism of pro-apoptotic action of prosthetic restorations on oral mThe research was carried out on the saliva of healthy patients using prostheses. The sample swabs were stained using the May-Grünwald-Giemsa method and processed by immunohistochemistry for nuclear factor kappa B (NF-κB; p65) and caspase-3. Western blots were used to detect caspase-3, NF-κB, p53 and COX-2 expression.ucosa cells

Lumbar spinal stenosis (LSS) is a common degenerative disease, which can lead to neurological dysfunction and requires surgical treatment. In the previous study, we used H&E staining and immunohistochemistry to qualitatively analyze the expression of S100 and P16 in the pathological process of ligamentum flavum (LF) hypertrophy in patients with LSS.

The detection of the glomeruli is a key step in the histopathological evaluation of microscopic images of the kidneys. However, the task of automatic detection of the glomeruli poses challenges owing to the differences in their sizes and shapes in renal sections as well as the extensive variations in their intensities due to heterogeneity in immunohistochemistry staining.

The role of pERK, pAKT and p53 as biomarkers in patients with advanced pancreatic cancer has not yet been defined. Methods: Within the phase III study AIO-PK0104 281 patients with advanced pancreatic cancer received an erlotinib-based 1st-line regimen. Archival tissue from 153 patients was available for central immunohistochemistry staining for pERK, pAKT and p53.

Fibroblast growth factor receptors (FGFRs) are well-known proto-oncogenes in several human malignancies and are currently therapeutically targeted in clinical trials. Among glioma subtypes, activating FGFR1 alterations have been observed in a subpopulation of pilocytic astrocytomas while FGFR3 fusions occur in IDH wild-type diffuse gliomas, resulting in high FGFR3 protein expression.

This study was carried out to evaluate the prognostic value of KIBRA in breast cancer. Methods: This retrospective study included breast cancer patients who sought the services of the immunohistochemistry laboratory of our unit from 2006 to 2015. Tissue microarrays were constructed and immunohistochemical staining was done to assess the KIBRA expression.

Urinary bladder carcinoma is a common urologic malignancy, particularly in males. We studied the role of smoothelin (a cytoskeleton protein) as a diagnostic marker for muscularis propria invasion, differentiating it from the muscularis mucosae for proper staging in urinary bladder carcinoma patients. Paraffin blocks from 85 cases of bladder carcinoma: 69 urothelial carcinoma cases, 10 squamous cell carcinoma cases, 5 adenocarcinoma cases and one case neuroendocrine small cell carcinoma, were stained by smoothelin immunohistochemical marker.

Schistosoma mansoni and Schistosoma haematobium are intravascular, parasitic flatworms that infect >250 million people in 70 developing countries, yet not all people of the same community and household are afflicted. Regarding laboratory rodents, mice but not rats are susceptible to infection with S. mansoni and hamsters but not mice are entirely permissive to infection with S. haematobium. A recent Brazilian publication has demonstrated that resistance of the water-rat, Nectomys squamipes to S. mansoni infection might be ascribed to stores of arachidonic acid (ARA)-rich lipids in liver.

The ability of camels to go for varying periods of time without water is a major factor in placing the family camp and camel herd in relation to sources of water. This ability is affected by several factors such as how much work (including walking in search of its feed) the camel has to do and the ambient temperature. Camels spend more energy (involving the use of water for evaporative cooling) at high temperatures, increasing thus the need for water and reducing the time between waterings. The management implications of this are that camels should be provided with shade,...
