DDT (Dichloro-diphenyl-trichloroethane) and chlordane are the organochlorine pesticides (OCPs) dangerous to human health and easily accumulate in biological tissues, used to control insects in crops, livestock and house protection. The use of organochlorine pesticides (OCPs) has decreased considerably worldwide; they have been banned in most countries due to adverse impacts on wildlife. The purpose of the study was to investigate OCP residue levels in wild birds from Aegean, Marmara, Mediterranean, and Central Anatolia geographical regions of Turkey. Feather samples (n = 80) of four bird species in four regions were collected from anthropogenically dead birds such as roadkill and wind turbine collision. Feather samples were analysed using GC/MS and scanned for 23 pesticide congeners.

The one-day-old O. latipes embryos is harvested and exposed to different concentrations of o, p`-DDT 0.04; 0.08; 0.12; 0.16; 0.2; 0.24; 0.28 and 0 µg/l (the control sample is not supplemented with o, p`-DDT) for 24, 48, 72 and 96 hours. After 24, 48, 72 and 96 hours, the results showed that LC50 value is gradually decreased, respectively 0.1013; 0.0772; 0.0486 and 0.0359 µg/l. In modern agriculture there is a pivotal role of pesticides in pest management though, the side effect pesticides on soil biological system is non avoidable. Experimental result shows that imidacloprid recorded 21.42% increased azotobacter population while chlorpyrifos recorded 31.04% less azotobacter in comparison with untreated check. All the treatments showed negative impact on the rhizobium population and rate of growth inhibition was 30.81% to 55.18%; whereas the inhibition rate was ranged 22.08% to 54.37% in case of total bacteria population.
