  • Goats are among the main meat producing animals in India. Along with chevon, goats also provide other products like milk, skin, fibre and manure. Increasing demand for chevon and goat milk has attracted majority of the farmers towards goat farming. Multipurpose potential with good economic returns has encouraged the educated youth, ladies, businessmen and progressive farmers to take up the goat enterprise on a commercial scale. Goat farming in India has low productivity which may be attributed to the lack of scientific knowledge.

  • During the past few years farmers participatory research trials have rapidly gained popularity with due consideration being given to the knowledge, problems and priorities of the farming families. Peas, potato and turnip are important vegetables cultivated by growers of district Kupwara. A series of on - farm trials were laid on pea, potato, turnip and walnut to assess the impact of technologies and test their performance in district Kupwara. The application of rhizobium @3kg/ha. recorded yield of 10.50q/ha followed by rhizobium @2.0kg/ha which recorded an average yield to the tune of 10.

  • Recent times copper nanoparticles (CuN) has gained attention due to its multifaceted action against several microbes. However, its impact on beneficial plant microbes has not much studied. To fill these knowledge gaps, copper nanoparticles were tested for antibacterial ability against well-known two plant biocontrol agents Pseudomonas fluorescens and Bacillus subtilis by an in vitro bioassay using disk diffusion methodology.
