This study enhances the understanding of imperfect factor markets by examining the impact of country-level factors on takeover location decisions and the gains to target firms. The results suggest that the likelihood that a completed deal is a cross-border acquisition rather than a domestic acquisition is higher for target countries with lower government quality, weaker investor protection, stronger restrictions on capital mobility, lower corporate tax rates, and more depreciated currencies.

A closed-form solution is developed for the optimal order size and the maximum shortage level. It is sought to find the optimal number of the shipments and the quantity of each shipment in a way that minimizes the both manufacturer’s and the supplier’s cost functions. To the authors’ best knowledge, this is the first paper that deals with imperfect items in a decentralized supply chain.

The results show that ultimate strength under static loading can not be used as a quality criterion for zirconium alloys welds. Increased shielding gas flow rate does not allow to protect weld metal totally and contributes to defect formation without using special nozzles. This paper deals with an economic order quantity model where demand is stock dependent. Items received are not of perfect quality and each lot received contains percentage defective imperfect quality items, which follow a probability distribution. Two cases are considered. 1) Imperfect quality items are held in stock and sold in a single batch after a 100 percent screening process. 2) A hundred percent screening process is performed but the imperfect quality items are sold as soon as they are detected. Approximate optimal solutions are derived in both cases.
