  • Biological control represents an important approach of agricultural biotechnology for controlling many fungal plant pathogens. Trichoderma spp. are the most promising and effective bioagents against many plant pathogenic fungi. In present paper, twenty Trichoderma isolates were isolated from chickpea rhizosphere soil and screened for their efficacy against soil borne plant pathogens namely R. bataticola, F. oxysporum ciceri and S. rolfsii. In chickpea the isolates ATPU 1, ATPP 6, KNN 4, KNO 2, KNPG 3 and KNP 1 were most efficient in the production of volatile and non-volatile compounds.

  • The Aspergillus fungi have been an important source of natural products that are useful for exploration in medicine, agriculture and industry. In our continuous investigation to search for new antimicrobial agents from marine-derived fungi, one new phomaligol A2, together with three known compounds, wasabidienone E, aspertetranone D and mactanamide, were obtained from the EtOAc extract of the culture medium of the marine-derived fungus Aspergillus flocculosus (A. flocculosus) 01NT.1.1.5 isolated from the sponge Stylissa sp. at Nhatrang Bay, Vietnam.

  • Soil microorganisms such as bacteria and fungi play an important role in soil fertility and promoting the plant growth. Sixty soil samples are collected of different agricultural crop fields such as groundnut field, sugarcane field, Plantain field, turmeric field, tapioca field and wasteland with Parthenium field in and around Thiruvannamalai, Tamil Nadu were investigated soil moisture content by oven drying method and diversity of fungi by using serial dilution plating method with standard Potato Dextrose Agar (PDA) for qualitative and quantitative pattern.

  • Brinjal is one of the important vegetable crop cultivated widely in India. It is susceptible to many diseases like sclerotium rot/wilt, verticillium wilt, fusarium wilt and bacterial wilt and it is being attacked by several diseases of fungi and bacteria. The collar rot/wilt disease caused by Sclerotium rolfsii is an important constraint in brinjal production. Hence, an in vivo study was conducted to evaluate the bio efficacy of antagonistic bioagents and fungicide chemicals against root rot/wilt disease of Brinjal at College of Agriculture, Bheemrayangudi during 2011–2012.

  • Mycorrhiza is important fungi for agriculture. To study of that plant’s root and soil samples were collected from the different regions of junagadh and near to junagadh district. AMF spores were isolated by Wet-sieving-decanting method and AdhesionFlotation Technique. Morphological studies followed by tryphan blue staining revealed different stages with different components of AM fungi in compound microscope.
