Banana shrimp Fenneropenaeus merguiensis has emerged as an important aquacultured shrimp species in South East Asia and Australia. However, the quantitative genetic basis of economically important traits in this species are currently not available, while for body colour, cooked or uncooked, there are no genetic parameter estimates for any shrimp or indeed any decapod crustacean.

Mandatory disclosure of the species identity, production method, and geographical origin are embedded in the regulations and traceability systems, governing international seafood trade. A high-resolution mass spectrometry-based metabolomics approach could simultaneously authenticate the species identity and geographical origin of commercially important shrimps.

Crustacea, the second largest subphylum of Arthropoda, includes species of major ecological and economic importance, such as crabs, lobsters, crayfishes, shrimps, and barnacles. With the rapid development of crustacean aquaculture and biodiversity loss, understanding the gene regulatory mechanisms of growth, reproduction, and development of crustaceans is crucial to both aquaculture development and biodiversity conservation of this group of organisms. In these biological processes, transcription factors (TFs) play a vital role in regulating gene expression.

Tyrosinase plays an important role in the formation of melanin. Thus, the process of melanin formation can be reduced through the inhibition of tyrosinase. The objective of this study is to investigate the tyrosinase inhibitory activity of different red seaweeds harvested in the coast of Khanh Hoa Province.

The common littoral shrimp Palaemon serratus is an economically important decapod resource in some European communities. Aquaculture practices prevent the genetic deterioration of wild stocks caused by overfishing and at the same time enhance the production. The biotechnological manipulation of sex-related genes has the proved potential to improve the aquaculture production but the scarcity of genomic data about P. serratus hinders these applications.

Restrictions to gene flow, genetic drift, and divergent selection associated with different environments are significant drivers of genetic differentiation. The black tiger shrimp (Penaeus monodon), is widely distributed throughout the Indian and Pacific Oceans including along the western, northern and eastern coastline of Australia, where it is an important aquaculture and fishery species.

In India shrimp is the one of the major item in seafood exports. It accounts for nearly 41% of total aqua exports. To study the direction of trade and the structural stability markov chain analysis was employed. The results showed that the growth performance was high for other pooled countries (OPC) i.e.16.6 % for quantity and 21% for value followed by South East Asia and 12.5 % for quantity and 17 % for value. Japan found to exhibit negative growth exports for shrimps.

Since the recent past, intensive shrimp culture has become widely spread and applied because of the diminishing farming land and to regulate proper discharge/processing of wastewater for monitoring environmental conditions. These systems tend to culture shrimps at high stocking density which is one of the most important factor in shrimp culture, and bear the potential to influence growth and survival of shrimp due to the stress response induced by crowding.

The combination of protecting natural breeds with technical rearing nurseries is a decisive factor in the success of shrimp farming. The very important issue is that there should be an appropriate and sustainable economic plan, which means that the economic activity of Litopenaeus vannamei prawn farming in Bac Lieu coastal area must be profitable.

In recent years, a number of diseases have been negatively effecting on shrimp aquaculture. More recently, Enterocytozoon hepatopenaei (EHP), a microsporidian parasite causes Hepatopancreatic Microsporidiosis (HPM) to be associated with white feces syndrome (WFS) and slow (retarded or stunted) growth in farmed L. vannamei (pacific white leg shrimp) in many of the shrimp growing countries in Asia, also in India. Numerous studies revealed that the pathogen causing significant economic losses to the shrimp industry.

Hepaotopancreatic Microsporidiosis (HPM) caused by Enterocytozoon hepatopenaei (EHP), a microsporidian parasite to be associated with slow (retarded or stunted) growth and white feces syndrome (WFS) in cultured shrimp in many of the shrimp growing countries in Asia, also in India. In the present study, shrimp samples from various shrimp ponds from different Mandals of SPSR Nellore district, Andhra Pradesh, India, were collected over a period of five months (February 2016 to June 2016). Important diagnosis observed were histopathological studies, molecular technique (PCR).

Melanin is a biopolymer produced by phenol oxidases group of enzymes and plays an important role in radiational, thermal and biochemical stress tolerance. This pharmacologically active pigment has been reported to be produced by bacteria. However, there is a paucity of data for bacteria associated with melanisation in shrimp. In this context the present study was undertaken. The presence of bacteria with the extracellular phenol oxidase production from the melanized appendages of Penaeus vannamei is studied.

Shrimp aquaculture has become an economically important one and production has decreased in recent years due to the spread of infectious diseases, mostly that caused by bacterial infection. The shrimp are affected by the toxic substances which eventually enter in to their systems and bring about external damages. This study explores, it was aimed to assessment of the physiochemical and microbiological quality of different farmed shrimp from Ratnagiri.

The increase in the human population in addition to the massive demand for protein of animal origin forced the authorities to seek for additional sources of feed supplies. Aquaculture is the world worth coming expansion to compensate the shortage in animal protein. Feed in aquaculture plays an important role in the production cycle and exert threshold on both practical and economic aspects. Feed additive sectors are expanding day after day to achieve better growth and health for fish and shrimp and to meet the potential requirements of the culturists.

Aquaculture is an important economic activity in the coastal zone of Vietnam. Thanh Phu is one the coastal districts in Ben Tre province that rears brackish aquaculture. In recent years, farmers could not grow shrimp because of salinity intrusion and market price fluctuation. This study aims to determine aquaculture and fallow aquaculture pond distribution by using the three indices of NDVI (Normalized Difference Vegetation Index), MNDWI (Modified Normalized Difference Water Index) and NDBaI (Modified Difference Bareness Index) on Landsat 8 imagery.
