  • The study was conducted in Kheda and Panchmahal districts of middle Gujarat during 2015-16 to assess the comparative adoption level of improved animal husbandry practices by dairy farmers of Kheda and Panchmahal districts of Gujarat. Four talukas from each district, five villages from each taluka and five respondents/dairy farmers from each village were randomly selected, thus covering 40 villages and a total of 200 respondents.

  • The present study was aimed at understanding the socio-economic conditions and adoption of sheep management practices in Karauli district of Rajasthan, India as it serves as a benchmark for evolving meaningful extension strategies and other policy interventions. The scenario in Karauli district revealed that sheep production is in the hands of traditional farmers; rearing under the extensive system of management. Most of the farmers had a poor socio-economic background with illiteracy. Majority is rearing a hairy coated dual purpose breed with small flock sizes ranging from 25 to 50 heads.

  • The indigenous technical knowledge (ITK) regarding animal husbandry is considered as old as domestication of various livestock species. Unfortunately, these practices which are in vogue throughout the rural India are little documented and there is danger of extinction of this knowledge. Thus it is become imperative to collect and document these practices. A semi structured interview schedule was used for the data collection from 10 traditional healers and 120 livestock owners.

  • Agriculture in general and livestock in particular are important to make women empowered by giving them employment. Research and experience confirm the importance of gender equity, not only as a fundamental human right, but also as essential to poverty reduction and improved living standard.   • To study the knowledge of dairy animal owners in improved dairy husbandry practices a field survey in Bihar state was conducted during April-June’2016. Data were collected through personal interview from randomly selected 1550 dairy animal owners from randomly selected villages from Chhapra, Vaishali district of Bihar with the help of pretested structured schedule. Survey indicates that the 71.67 percentage of the livestock farmers belonged to middle age category range from 35-50 years, followed by 15.00 percent in young age category and 13.33% belonged to old age category.

  • Adoption, Paddy is important cereal crop of Andhra Pradesh state, particularly East and West Godavari is considered as Rice bowl of Andhra Pradesh. It is cultivated under wide range of soils and climatic conditions. It is grown in black soils as well as heavy clay loam soils. In East Godavari district total rice production area is 4.23/ha. The major varieties grown in Ramchandrapuram mandal are MTU-1010, PLU-1100. More than 70% of the Indian farming community own less than one hectare of land. They belong to the category of small and marginal farmers.
