There is large scope to increase milk production of milch animals because they are poorly maintained on small farms. Adequate management, feedings, health care practices, and improved breeds are not available to marginal and small farmers.

Study was conducted in Haryana to assess the extent of adoption of improved dairy farming practices by the selected dairy farmers. The data were collected from four agroclimatic zone of Haryana. From each zone one district was selected purposively on the basis of milch animal population. Then from each district two blocks were selected randomly. From each block two villages were selected randomly. From each village 15 dairy farmers were selected randomly.

There is need of improved and innovative technology to raise production and productivity for enhancing efficiency of agriculture in NER. The Tribal Sub-Plan (TSP) is a strategy for Socio-economic development and livelihood security of tribal people of Meghalaya. The study was conducted to assess the socio-economic status of the respondents and to analyze the tangible and intangible benefits of the interventions in Rongram block of West Garo Hills distrct of Meghalaya. A total sample of 120 respondents was drawn from the different technological components.

The recent study was performed on the respondents of different age group, gender, education status, factors and other characteristics that include breeds, rearing and housing strategies of the various buffalo in these different villages of Chaka region.

Most of the South Asian and Pacific countries have similarities in setting the policy and execution of dairy and beef cattle genetic improvement programmes. Historically, governments have played a major role in cattle farming and breeding activities; nowadays, however, the initiatives of the private sector or of non-government organizations are modifying the needs of farmers for support from the government. About 90% of the contribution of the livestock sector is from small holders and this proportion is highly consistent across countries.

It is said that farms having land to grow crops and forage (PK-3 and PK-10R) were relatively most competitive. The PK-10R farm is said to be most viable farm size, and has the potential of challenging competitors in export markets6. Such farms make effective use of technological advances in breeding practices, e.g., artificial insemination, to improve their herd quality. Some of them have also installed their own pasteurization or processing equipment. However, there are only 23% of farmers who fall in the PK-10R category, whereas 70% of the farmers have less than four animals.

For its part, Japan generally provides support for irrigation and drainage, and the readjustment of agricultural land. Agri-environmental programs are important aspects of agricultural policy and include measures encouraging farmers to adopt sustainable agricultural practices that reduce the amount of fertilizer and pesticide usage as well as improve the quality of soil with composting.
