Improved ginger production technology

The concept of vocational training in agriculture through KVK grew substantially due to greater demand for improved agricultural technology by the farmers. The study was carried out in Tlangnuam block of Aizawl District of Mizoram. The Tlangnuam block was purposively selected because of large number of farmers’ participation in KVK’s training programme. For the selection of respondents, a list of ginger trainees of KVK during preceding three years (2016-17 to 2018-19) was prepared. Out of 210 trainees list, only 60 farmers were randomly selected from KVK adopted villages of Tlangnuam block.

The study reveals that, majority of respondents 65.00 per cent have favourable opinion whereas, 20.00 per cent ginger growers have least favourable and remaining 15.00 per cent respondents had more favourable opinion about improved ginger production technology. There was significant difference between the respondents of selected tehsils about opinion farmers toward improved ginger production technology.

Low cost technologies developed for turmeric production system were tested in ginger production system. Physiological workload of the selected women workers while performing selected activities in ginger production system was assessed by heart rate method. Total 46 healthy farm workers working in the field for 6-7 hrs/ day were selected for the study. Study was conducted in Pokharni, Katneshwar, Nandgaon, Bharati Camp Dist. Parbhani & Hatta, Adgaon, Satephal villages of Dist. Hingoli. For collection of data 46 female workers, three replications, 5 activities viz.
