Gellan gels were produced using different approaches forming structures with varied potential applications. Gels were characterized from appearance, mechanical properties, water holding capacity (WHC) and microstructure. In addition, in vitro digestibility of these gels was evaluated to understand the effect of gastrointestinal environment on their structure stability.

Viscosity is an important rheological property, which may have impact on the glycemic response of starchy foods. However, the relationship between starch gels viscosity on its hydrolysis has not been elucidated. The aim of this work was to assess the effect of gels viscosity on the microstructure, and the kinetics of enzymatic hydrolysis of starch.

In the present study, digestion and fermentation (in vitro) of chickpea hull (CHPS) polysaccharides were analyzed, and CHPS effects were determined on gut microbes by using high-throughput sequencing technology. The results revealed that saliva, artificial gastric, and small intestinal juices had no effect on CHPS, but after fermentation of CHPS by human gut microbiota the molecular weight, reducing sugar and carbohydrate content decreased significantly.

In this study, the total phenolic content (TPC), total flavonoid content (TFC), in vitro antioxidant capacity and individual phenolic compounds of Juniperus drupacea Labill berry and pekmez (molasses) were determined. Since pekmez was the only edible form of berry, the bioaccessibility of phenolic compounds and the antioxidant capacity of the pekmez were assessed following exposure to simulated gastrointestinal conditions.

The cattle gastrointestinal tract (GIT) is the main enterohemorrhagic Escherichia coli (EHEC) reservoir. In order to identify nutrients required for the survival or multiplication of EHEC in the bovine GIT, we compared the transcriptomes of the EHEC O157:H7 reference strain EDL933 cultured in vitro in bovine digestive contents (DCs) (rumen, small intestine and rectum) using RNA-sequencing.

Crateva adansonii is a plant species belonging to the family; Capparaceae, with multiple therapeutic uses in the traditional settings, including diabetes. The objective of this study was to evaluate the antiradical and anti-hyperglycaemic properties of the aqueous extract of the bark of the trunk of Crateva adansonii. The anti-hyperglycaemic properties of the extract was evaluated by the inhibition test of α-amylase and α-glucosidase enzymes in vitro confirmed by an in vivo study, on starch and sucrose tolerance tests using acarbose as witness.

The main findings of the study were that: (1) Goats fed Bauhinia acuminata responded with improved diet digestibility, N retention and growth rate when the Bauhinia acuminata was supplemented with water spinach; (2) However an important negative effect was that the improvement in diet digestibility by supplementation with water spinach led to increases in methane production per unit diet DM digested; (3) Supplementing Bauhinia acuminata foliage with leaves from a bitter variety of cassava reduced the in vitro production of methane when compared with supplementation by leaves from a sweet va...

The present investigation was conducted to find out the effects of heat or irradiation combined with heat on in-vitro protein digestibility (IVPD).Sorghum, pearl millet, foxtail millet were used in the study. Whole (WC) and dehulled (DC) grains were treated either with heat (170°C) or irradiation at 1.0kGy/2.5kGy and stored for 90 days.

Definitive endoderm (DE) gives rise to the respiratory apparatus and digestive tract. Sox17 and Cxcr4 are useful markers of the DE. Previously, we identified a novel DE marker, Decay accelerating factor 1(Daf1/CD55), by identifying DE specific genes from the expression profile of DE derived from mouse embryonic stem cells (ESCs) by microarray analysis, and in situ hybridization of early embryos.

In comparison to both single phytases, this combination has improved the hydrolytic catalysis of phytate in rice bran, corn and soybean powder; resulted in higher amount of inorganic phosphate released in two phases – in vitro digestion. Further studies of this combination on monogastric animals shall be carried on to confirm the synergic effect of these two phytases.

The present results reported that leaves and twigs of AN contained higher levels of CP, FAT, and NFE than in AH treatments. They had significant (P< 0.05) effects on dry matter intake (DMI), lambs' body weight, and digestibility. In contrast, Degradability, higher gas production and in vitro fermentation range of BH to that these substrates had a higher nutritional value than the other browse species. Lambs receiving BH consumed (P< 0.05)more feed compared to those received AH or AN.

The present study was undertaken to study the effect of varying levels of Moringa oleifera leaf meal (MOLM) supplementation on in vitro utilization of concentrate mixtures replacing total crude protein of soybean @ 10,20,30,40 and 50%.The net gas production was significantly increased as the moringa supplementation level increased in the concentrate ration. It was significantly higher in 30% moringa based concentrate and significantly lowest in control concentrate.

Spermatogonial Stem Cells (SSCs) are unipotent adult stem cells, defined as the undifferentiated stem cells located along the basement membrane of the seminiferous tubules. This present study is aimed to carry out the culture and characterization of SSCs in pre-pubertal age group of mice. Isolation of SSCs was done by two-step enzymatic digestion method and was seeded in a six-well plate. In primary culture (P0), colony forming unit was observed on day four post incubation. Mice Spermatogonial Stem Cells (mSSCs) adherence was observed on day eight post incubation.
