Tomato is world’s one of the largest growing vegetable crop and ranks first among processing crops. It’s production suffers with many biotic and abiotic factors. Leaf blight disease caused by different species of Alternaria is one of the most dreadful diseases of tomato, causing huge economic losses. The present study was conducted in order to evaluate the efficacy of different fungicides against Alternaria alternata, one of cause for blight disease of tomato.

Different non systemic and systemic fungicides are tested at four concentrations under in vitro over Macrophomina phaseolina causing charcoal rot of soybean. Among seven non systemic fungicides, mancozeb 75% WP and propineb 70% WP were found to be the most effective fungicides with cent per cent mean mycelial inhibition at all concentrations (1000, 1500, 2000 and 2500 ppm) tested.

The disease has been reported to causes more than 60 per cent mortality of seedlings both in nursery and field condition and about 50-80 per cent losses during storage (Nirmal, 1992); rhizome rot resulted in yield loss of 50% (Rajalakshmi et al., 2016).

The toxicants (fungicide and botanicals) showing maximum efficacy against the pathogen and minimum efficacy against milky mushroom (Calocybe indica) mycelia as per results of in vitro studies were further evaluated against T. harzianum under in vivo condition in mushroom house. Among fungicides only Bavistin (@150 ppm) and out of three botanicals only Nimbicidin (@4 per cent) were selected for management of the green mould disease in milky mushroom cultivation in bags.

Rapeseed-mustard belongs to family Brassicaceae. It is the most important group of rabi oilseed crops and contribute a major share to the vegetable fat of the country. Effectiveness of the six fungicides i.e. Quintal (Iprodione 25% + Carbendazim 25%), Nativo (Tebuconazole 50% + Trifloxystrobin 25% 75GW), Tilt (Propiconazole 25 EC), Score (Difenoconazole 25 EC) and Propineb (Antracol 70 WP), Folicur (Tebuconazole 250 EC) were used at three concentrations of each @ 0.05, 0.1 and 0.2 per cent and one is no treatment (control) under in vitro against Alternaria brassicae by poison food technique.

The cluster bean (Cyamopsis tetragonoloba L.Taub.) also known as Guar is one of the most important commercial crop and major source of guar gum. The clusterbean is affected by various fungal diseases. Among those dry root rot caused by Macrophomina phaseolina (Tassi) Goid., a soil borne, cosmopolitan fungus infecting cluster bean and more than 500 plant species. The first symptom of disease is yellowing of the leaves, dark lesion may be seen on the bark at the ground level, the basal stem & main root may show dry rot symptoms.

The present study was carried out with an aim to find out the effective fungicides and biocontrol agents under In vitro and In vivo conditions. In vitro evaluations revealed that Tebuconazole was found highly effective in controlling the mycelial growth of F. solani completely at all the concentrations (50, 100, 250 and 500ppm) among the different fungicides tested by poised food technique.

Brinjal is an important vegetables crop grown in India. The leaf mold is an important disease causing yield loss in Manipur region. Among the plant extracts studied garlic at both concentrations (3 and 6%) showed maximum growth inhibition, whereas among the fungicides propiconazole and hexaconazole showed the maximum efficiency in inhibition of growth over the control. The sporulation was completely inhibited in all the treatments studied.

Six fungicides viz., captan 50 WP, copper oxychloride 50 WP, dodine 65 WP, mancozeb75 WP, propineb70 WP and zineb 80 WP were evaluated against rice sheath blight (Thanatephorus cucumeris). The in-vitro evaluation of these fungicides through poisoned food technique at five different concentrations viz., 50, 100, 200, 500 and 1000 µg a.i ml-1 indicated that mancozeb proved the most effective exhibiting mean mycelial growth inhibition of 95.26 per cent followed by captan and dodine with 93.80 and 93.66 per cent, respectively. Copper oxychloride proved least effective and resulted in only 44.

Chemical control is one of the measures to manage the disease and avoid the losses. The evaluation study was therefore conducted in vitro. Ten fungicides were tested against the pathogen i.e. Macrophomina phaseolina in vitro. The highest inhibition (100%) of M. phaseolina was observed due to carbendazim 50% WP at different concentration (250, 500, 1000 ppm), mancozeb 75% WP (1500, 2000, 2500 ppm), ridomil-MZ 72% WP (1000, 1500, 2000 ppm) and carbendazim 12% + mancozeb 63% (1500, 2000, 2500 ppm) followed by propiconazole at 250 ppm (87.21 %), 500 ppm (89.92 %) and 1000 ppm (92.
