  • Major threat to highly productive cotton belt of North India is Cotton Leaf Curl Disease exclusively transmitted by whitefly (Bemisia tabaci). The present investigation was carried out at Research farm of department of Agricultural Meteorology, CCS HAU, Hisar Haryana, to evaluate progression of CLCuD and whitefly (Bemisia tabaci) in relation to weather parameters. Three Bt -cotton hybrids were sown at three different dates. Per cent CLCuD incidence increases continuously from appearance to picking.

  • A field experiment was conducted at Central Institute for Cotton Research Farm, Nagpur for three years in medium deep clay loam soil. The experiment was laid out in RBD design with three replications consist of three herbicide based weed management packages in intercropping of non Bt cotton + soybean and two sole crops. Non Bt cotton+ soybean intercropping reduced seed cotton yields considerably in a year of very 640 mm higher rainfall over normal caused over growth of soybean.

  • The field study aimed to assess impact of environmental resistance factors on population dynamics of Earias vittella Fabricius and Helicoverpa armigera Hubner on Bt and non-Bt cotton was conducted at the Regional Research and Technology Transfer Station, Bhawanipatna, Kalahandi. The results revealed that the transgenic Bunny Bt cotton incorporated with Cry 1Ac and Cry 2Ab remained absolutely free from bollworms infestation throughout the crop season in 2013 and 2014.

  • Field experiment carried out at ARS, Dharwad during 2013-14 to study the effect of seed treating chemical and spray formulations on morpho-physiological traits and their impact on sucking pests incidence in Bt cotton. Seed treatment with Imidacloprid 70WS registered higher seedling vigour index of 1089.00 as compared to 1053.00 in Thiamethoxam 35FS.   • A field experiment was conducted in farmer’s field at Jodalli village (Kalghatgi taluk) in 2012-13 and at Pale village (Hubballi taluk) in 2013-14 under protective irrigation to study the effect of graded levels of NPK fertilizers on pests incidence of Bt cotton. The interaction of graded levels of NPK did not show significant effect on pests population (thrips, jassids, aphids, shoot weevil, mirid bug and midge) during first and second years of experimentation and also in pooled data.
