  • In this paper, the Long-short term memory network model is used to estimate the direction of incoming signals for the Uniform Circular Antenna array. The performance of this method is evaluated based on the RMSE parameter and compared with the MUSIC algorithm in different cases such as the deviation of incident angle of radiation sources, and signal-to-noise ratio...

  • Microwave absorbing materials (MAMs) are essential materials for mitigating the bad effects of electromagnetic interference and microwave pollution. SrFe12-2xCux/2Cox/2TixO19 samples showed their superior microwave absorption performances in both reflection loss and effective absorption bandwidth (EAB) values for the normal incident angle of the microwave. Between these parameters, EAB values expressed how large a frequency the MAM could be used for practical applications.

  • Kagami–Ogata syndrome is a rare genetic imprinting disorder involving the 14q32.2 genomic location of chromosome 14. The estimated incidence is less than 1 per 1 million. Here we report a male neonate with Kagami– Ogata syndrome presenting with severe respiratory distress requiring mechanical ventilation since birth.

  • This paper proposed a possible approach for direct georeferencing with high accuracy using the resection method. Thanks to new series of TLS combined with a total station called the total station scanner, the resection method can be applied to overcome the problem.

  • In this paper, with the simulated signal data set obtained at the linear antenna array (ULA), the Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) network model is used to estimate the DOA. The performance of the method is evaluated based on the RMSE parameter and compared with MUSIC, DNN algorithms in different cases such as: deviation of incident angle of radiation sources, signal-to-noise ratio (SNR).

  • Ultrasound guidance can increase the success rate and reduce the incidence of complications of arterial cannulation. There are few studies on the utility of the dynamic needle tip positioning (DNTP) technique versus the angle-distance (AD) technique for ultrasound-guided radial arterial cannulation in adult surgical patients.

  • The objective of this study is to develop a model to describe accurately the vibroacoustic performance of a clamped finite orthotropic laminated double-composite plate filled with air. In this investigation, the theoretical and existing experimental results were compared and reached a good agreement. The influence of several key system parameters (e.g., thickness of faceplate, the thickness of air cavity and the sound incident angles) on sound transmission loss is considered.

  • Dysphagia is one of the most serious complications in patients treated with a halo-vest brace. However, the cause of dysphagia development by halo-vest fixation is not yet clear. We therefore investigated the incidence of dysphagia and cervical alignment as well as clinical data from medical charts in patients treated with a halo-vest brace.

  • BornAgain is a free and open-source multi-platform software framework for simulating and fitting X-ray and neutron reflectometry, off-specular scattering, and grazing-incidence small-angle scattering (GISAS). This paper concentrates on GISAS. Support for reflectometry and off-specular scattering has been added more recently, is still under intense development and will be described in a later publication. BornAgain supports neutron polarization and magnetic scattering. Users can define sample and instrument models through Python scripting.

  • Herein, the design and simulation of graphene/InP thin film solar cells with a novel periodic array of nanorods and plasmonic back-reflectors of the nano-semi sphere was proposed. In this structure, a single-layer of the graphene sheet was placed on the vertical nanorods of InP to form a Schottky junction. The electromagnetic field was determined using solving three-dimensional Maxwell’s equations discretized by the finite difference method (FDM). The enhancement of light trapping in the absorbing layer was illustrated, thereby increasing the short circuit current to a maximum value of 31.

  • Microwave remote sensing or SAR (Synthetic Aperture Radar) data has been employed extensively to map open water bodies and to monitor flood extents, where cloud cover often prohibits the use of satellite sensors operating at other wavelengths. Where total inundation occurs, a low backscatter return is expected due to the specular reflection of SAR signal on the water surface. However, low local incidence angle and wind induced waves can cause a roughening of the water surface which result in a high return signal.

At arather great angle of attack, local supersonic regions can appear with free Mach numbers in the order of 0.3 - the Mach number is normally considered as a speed of incompressible flows.

  • This investigation was carried out under an external magnetic field fixed at 4 kOe to ensure for all the Co-granule magnetization being kept in a fixed incident light propagating direction. Results showed a rather remarkable angular dependence of T(φ) on the Co content for different wavelengths. It was attributed the behavior of this to be dependent on the so-called magnonphoton interaction.

  • Computer animation may be defined as a technique in which the illusion of movement is created by displaying on a screen, or recording on a recording device a series of individual states of a dynamic scene. Formally, any computer animation sequence may be defined as a set of objects characterized by state variables evolving over time. For example, a human character is normally characterized using its joint angles as state variables. To improve computer animation, attention needs to be devoted to the design of evolution laws [Magnenat Thalmann and Thalmann, 1985].

  • By the Snell law of reflection, a light ray incident upon a reflective surface will be reflected at an angle equal to the incident angle. Both angles are measured with respect to the normal to the surface. If a light ray emanates from O in the direction x ∈ S n−1 , and A is a perfectly reflecting surface, then the reflected ray has direction: (1.1) x∗ = T (x) = x − 2 x, ν ν, where ν is the outer normal to A at the point where the light ray hits A.
