This cross-sectional cohort study assessed the inequalities in oesophageal carcinoma risk by age, sex and nativity in Kuwait: 1980–2019. Methods Using oesophageal cancer incidence data from the Kuwait National Cancer Registry, relevant Kuwaiti population data and World Standard Population as a reference, age-standardized incidence rates (ASIR) (per 100,000 person-years) overall and by subcohorts were computed.

In contrast to the well-described epidemiology and behavior of small cell lung carcinoma (SCLC), little is known about extrapulmonary small cell carcinoma (EPSCC). Methods: Using data from the Surveillance, Epidemiology and End Results (SEER) Program (1992–2010), we calculated age-adjusted incidence rates (IRs), IR ratios (IRRs), annual percent change (APC), relative survival (RS), RS ratios (RSRs), and the respective 95% confidence intervals (95% CI) of SCLC and EPSCC according to primary site.

Studies have shown that morbidity and mortality rates due to cancer among recent immigrants are lower than those among the native-born population. The objectives of this study were to describe the incidence of colorectal and breast cancer among immigrants from major regions of the world compared to Canadian-born residents of the province of Ontario and to examine the role of length of stay and neighborhood income.

Few studies compared cancer incidence among migrants both to their host countries and to their population of origin. We aimed to compare cancer incidence of ethnic Germans who migrated from the former Soviet Union to Germany (resettlers) to those living in Russia as well as to the German and the Russian general populations.

The prevalence of both atrial fibrillation (AF) and malignancies are increasing in the elderly, but incidences of new onset AF in different cancer subtypes are not well described. The objectives of this study were therefore to determine the incidence of AF in different cancer subtypes and to examine the association of cancer and future AF.

Eighteen animals were engaged for therapeutic trial with three groups (Group 1; Control, Group 2; Mixture of Ammonium Chloride and Calcium Sulphate at 1:1 ratio and Group 3; Commercial salts preparation, Hyporid™) containing six animals each. The efficacy of various anionic salt preparations was determined on the basis of haemato-biochemical changes and incidence of milk fever after calving. Dietary Cation-Anion Difference (DCAD) concentration in control group was positive (+25.22 mEq/100gm of dry matter).

This prospective study was done to determine correlation between urine and/or stone cultures with postoperative sepsis in patients treated for renal and ureteral calculi. This prospective study was carried out in Department of Microbiology, Government medical college Kota between July 2015 and June 2016. The incidence of renal stone was more in male (N 70) (70%) as compared with female (N 30) (30%) i.e., in the ratio of 2:1. Urine culture was positive more in females (63.67% in female vs. 37.32% in male approx.

Pancreatic cancer has the highest mortality rate among cancers due to its aggressive biology and lack of effective treatment. Gemcitabine, the first line anticancer drug has reduced efficacy due to acquired resistance. The current study evaluates the toxicological effects of Orthosiphon stamineus (O.s) and its marker compound (rosmarinic acid) in combination with gemcitabine. O.s (200 or 400 mg/kg/day) and rosmarinic acid (32 mg/kg/day) were administered orally and gemcitabine (10 mg/kg/3 days) intraperitoneally either alone or in combination treatment for fourteen days.

We use this index to split countries into two groups: one group with highly developed mortgage markets (HDM) and another with less developed mortgage markets (LDM). 6 Chart 2 shows that the Anglo-Saxon and Nordic countries tend to have a highly developed mortgage market, whereas most countries in continental Europe are in the less developed group. 7 In the baseline analysis we work with the overall index.

For comparing Aussiedler incidence and mortality with the German/Saarland population, indirect standardization was used. Compared to the method of direct standardization, the indirect method is advantageous when the stratum-specific rates of one of the populations to be compared are based on small numbers. In this case one can use the more stable rates of the larger population for the indirect standardization, thus gaining robustness with regard to sampling variation (Breslow and Day, 1987).

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is one of the most common malignancies worldwide. The annual global incidence is about 1 million cases, with a male to female ratio of about 4:1. The incidence rate equals the death rate. In the United States, 19,160 new cases and 16,780 deaths were noted in 2007.
