Study on household mortgage has profound significance to better understand the economics. This paper finds that the household mortgage plays a positive role on consumption by examining the data of CFPS in 2018. Using the model that introduces interaction term, we argue that the mortgage has an income-effect for the comparatively low interest rate. The empirical result also shows the income-effect is greater in the “initiative mortgage households”.

In recent years, a profound transformation has been observed in the eating habits of the populations of African cities, induced by accelerated socioeconomic and demographic growth. In Senegal, these changes have manifested in the proliferation of collective informal catering enterprises, such as the ‘dibiteries’, where the roasted meat of sheep is prepared and sold. The rise of the average household income has contributed substantially to increasing levels of meat consumption, leading to the expansion of the dibiteries.

Farm diversification is advocated for reaping the gains of complementary relationship or equating substitution and price ratio for completing products. Farm diversification may also be used as a risk precaution and stabilize farm income. Diversification of crop farming along with livestock enterprises can play more significant role in increasing income and employment particularly on marginal and landless labourers and in meeting nutritional requirements.
