Accurate blood pressure (BP) measurement depends on appropriate cuff size and shape in relation to the arm. Arm dimensions outside the recommended range of cuff sizes or trunco-conical arms may result in inaccurate BP measurements. Measuring BP using finger cuffs is a potential solution. Arm cuff size is based on midarm circumference (MAC), and trunco-conicity is quantified by conicity index.

Starches from the wheat (UP262, PBW343), rice (PB2, PD19) and millets (Finger millet VL Mandua-352, Barnyard millet VL Madira-207, Foxtail millet DHFT-109-3) were isolated by alkali extraction method and characterized for morphologically and biochemical properties. The morphological properties of starch granules were studied by scanning electron microscope. The infrared spectroscopy is sensitive to structural changes on starch macromolecule, such as helicoidal chain conformation, crystallinity, retrogradation and water content.

A field experiment was conducted during Kharif 2017 at Zonal Agricultural and Horticultural Research Station, Babbur farm, Hiriyur. Pure crop of groundnut is tested against intercropping of finger millet, little millet and foxtail millet at 5:2 and 6:1 row proportions. With a gloved index finger inserted into the rectum with a Silverman biopsy needle applied close to the finger with the tip of the needle in line with the tip of the finger and the bevel edge facing away from the finger. The needle is then rotated half a turn so that the beveled edge is against the finger. This avoided an inadvertent needlestick injury.
