Indigenous sesame genotypes

The aim of the present study is to characterize eight hundred twenty nine germplasm of sesame and identify the candidate genotypes from indigenous gene-pool of Sesamum indicum L. The experiment was executed at Project Coordinating Unit (Sesame and Niger) Research Farm, JNKVV, Jabalpur (M.P.) in unreplicated Augmented Block Design using 17 attributing characters.

Thirty-three indigenous genotypes of sesame (Sesamum indicum L.) were evaluated to assess the extent of genetic diversity based on phenotypic and marker-based genotypic data. Multivariate analysis revealed considerable genetic diversity in the material and led to their grouping into 8 clusters. The yield per plant contributed most to genetic divergence followed by days to 50% flowering and 1000 grain weight, respectively.
