The results indicated that for eggplant improvement, additive variation is of great importance and makes it possible to successfully select better individuals in segregating populations, since the selective gains will depend only on gametic variation. For this reason, backcross, pedigree, single-seed descent or gametic selection methods are recommended for advancing the segregating populations.

The effect of growth regulator on growth and flowering of seed guar cultivars viz., HG 365 and HG 563 was analysed under Mahanandi conditions. The highest nitrate reductase activity, crude protein and gum content was recorded by HG 365 cultivar whereas the growth regulators found maximum in nitrate reductase activity and crude protein was recorded by the application of CCC at 1500 ppm which was on par with CCC 1000 ppm.

The objective of study was to develop high yielding (>20quintals/hectare) and high ginning out turn per cent (>35) cultures/ varieties. Out of 19 advance generation, three advance generation individual populations RS875xSA524 P12, F1861xSA668 P15, RS875xSA524 P4 had significantly higher seed cotton yield in comparison to both the check varieties H1226 (1717.37±292.3) and (F1861 1751.09 ±292.3) and possessed GOT% of 40.6, 38.5 and 39.0 and lint yield 935.6, 848.0 and772.4kg/ hectare, respectively.

Field experiment on efficacy of biocontrol agents for the management of rice root knot nematode Meloidogyen graminicola in paddy nursery and field were conducted during the samba season (2014-15) with rice variety TRY 3. The results revealed that seed treatment (10g/kg of seeds) along with soil application (@2.5kg/ha) of Pseudomonas fluorescens were found to inhibit the nematode population and increase the plant biomass followed by individual application compared to untreated control.

Small tractor operated seed planter with battery drive consists of a frame, furrow openers, individual seed boxes and battery drive, vertical rotor type seed metering mechanism, push button switch, and speed regulator. Seed metering mechanism gets a drive from the dc motor with aids of chain and sprocket arrangement instead of from ground wheel. As per the design calculations, the width of seed planter was 1.25 m. It can be used to overcome the difficulties in papaya breeding to get true to type plantlets especially in dioecious varieties. Violar tricolor belongs to Viola genus, Violaceae family, Violar tricolor plant is not only grown as an ornamental plant, but also a medicinal herb. In this study, some of factors affect on the process of micropropagation were investigated. In the experiment of sterilization explants, seed germination and shoot formation ability of the Violar tricolor L. reached the best result when they were sterilized by 0.1% HgCl2 for 1 minute.

Variation induced in C2 generation of African marigold using colchicine treatment was conducted in non-replicated trial with six treatments.
