  • The present study was conducted in Ananthapur district of Andhra Pradesh to study the profile characteristics and Information Source Utilization Pattern of rain fed groundnut farmers. Ananathapur farmers are largely dependent on drought-prone, rain-fed agriculture; and mostly a single crop of groundnut is sown in about 8 lakh ha under such harsh and agro climatic conditions. Of its geographical area of 19, 13,000 ha, (largest in AP) 10, 00,000 ha are rain-fed. The present state of A.P has totally about 40 lakh ha under rain fed cultivation and 25% of it is in Ananathapur district.

  • Present study was conducted with objective to explore the socio- personal, economic and psychological characteristics and information seeking behaviour of buffalo owners in Hisar and Jind district i.e. part of Murrah breeding tract of Haryana. Data was collected by interviewing 240 buffalo owners personally. Study revealed that majority of respondents were found in age group of 37-57 years, came from nuclear and small size family, medium family education status, small herd size, high risk orientation and medium economic motivation.

  • A total of seven microorganisms were isolated from different probiotic sources. The nicotine reducing activity of isolates was tested by general analytical techniques. Amongst them isolates BC6 and BC7 possess maximum nicotine reducing activity therefore it was selected for further investigation. Both isolates could utilize up to 1 g/l nicotine as the sole source of carbon and nitrogen, and optimum nicotine reducing activity obtained at pH 7 by inoculating with inoculum size of 1 McFarland standard units.

Results shows majority of respondents had possession of Cable TV, followed by television and newspaper and had high mass media exposure. A recent survey found that 112 million households in India own a television, with 61 percent of those homes having cable or satellite service (National Readership Studies Council, 2006). In China, television exposure grew from 18 million people in 1977 to 1 billion by 1995 (Thomas, 2003).
