Innovation on performance of SMEs

In this study, the effect of technological innovation capabilities (R&D capability, technology accumulation capability, technological innovation system) possessed by Korean small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) on their competitiveness improvement through innovation performance (product development and process development capabilities) was investigated. As a result of empirical analysis using the questionnaire, it was found that the R&D capability of small and medium-sized manufacturing industries in Korea did not affect product development capability or process development capability.

This paper is conducted to investigate the relationship between digitalization and business model innovation within small and medium enterprises. Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) are an important component of Vietnam's economy and society but lag in digitalization compared to larger enterprises. Business model innovation (BMI) is a necessary solution to have impacts on firm performance. While the world is heavily affected by digital transformation, innovation plays an important role in business development.

The study examines how Small-Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) demonstrate a range of innovation capabilities when they collaborate with a regional university research centre. This collaboration is shown to be important to create and exchange new knowledge to advance the firms innovation performance. The study demonstrates the ability of firms to acquire and exploit this knowledge, which is a business competency described as absorptive capacity (AC). AC relies on several antecedents or factors to engage with a collective learning process.

This study examines the impact of intellectual capital and strategic orientations (market orientation, learning orientation and technology orientation) on innovation capability and firm performance of small-to-medium enterprises (SMEs) in the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) industry in Malaysia. The following sections introduce the research background and elaborate on the problems identified for further investigation. The rationale and objectives of the study are also presented. The chapter ends with an outline of the structure of this thesis.
