The current study includes the histopathological alterations induced by chronic (20 days) exposure of the fish Anabas testudineus to a sublethal concentrations (27.5 mg/L) of inorganic fertilizer, Urea [CO(NH2)2]. Some vital organs were taken for the study that is kidney, liver, intestine, testis and ovary. The present study showed major histopathological alteration like vacuolar degenerative changes, necrosis etc. found in liver, intestine, testis, ovary and kidney organs dysfunction in response to urea toxicity effect in the fish A. testudineus.

Banana (Musa spp.) is one of the most important commercial fruit crops especially in the tropics. Of the many diseases occurring on banana, sigatoka leaf spot disease incited by Mycosphaerella musicola Leach, is considered as serious threat to world banana production. Given the importance of yellow Sigatoka in banana plantations and lack of information on its epidemiology, the present study was conducted to assess the incidence of Sigatoka leaf spot in banana plants cultivated through organics manures and inorganic fertilizer.

Nutrient management technology is oriented towards better utilization of organic sources that may be available cheaply, along with improving the formulation, time of application and placement of chemical fertilizers so that the nutrient uptake by plants is maximized. Keeping these points in the view, the proposed research entitled “Nutrient management in kharif rice (Oryza sativa L.) through inorganic and organic sources for enhancing productivity and profitability” is planned at Agronomy Farm, College of Agriculture, Dapoli during kharif season of 2018.

This study aimed to assess the effectiveness of different fertilizers doses with organic manures on micronutrients availability in turmeric (Curcuma longa L.). A field experiment in completely randomized block design was conducted with eight treatments which were replicated thrice. The eight treatments were comprised of four soil test crop response based treatments along with farmer’s practice, general fertilizer dose, soil test based and absolute control.

Continuous use of chemical fertilizers without organic sources poses soil health issues whereas organic manures using alone without inorganics could not be able to fulfill the requirement of high nutrient demanding crops due to the bulk and slow-acting nature of these organic fertilizer sources. However, neither organic fertilizers nor inorganic fertilizers alone can maintain productivity. The major yield limiting factors in crops production in Indian soils are NPS deficiencies.

In points of annual crop farming and close to residential the contribution of inorganic fertilizers to the total concentration of nitrate was estimated, based on the δ 15N-NO3 values, to be as high as more than 60% and the contribution of water waste was around 35-40%. This is the first time isotopic signature of nitrogen-15 in nitrate (δ15N-NO3) was applied as a tool to assess and identify sources of the nutrient in aquatic environment.
