  • In this paper, a feeding network based on Bat algorithm for pattern-nulling of a linear antenna array will be proposed. Bat algorithm has been used for calculating the amplitude of input weights for a uniform linear antenna array (ULA array) to place a wide null at a pre-defined position. A new feeding network structure to implement the excitation weights for a 12x1 ULA array will be proposed, designed and simulated.

  • Cropping pattern has undergone dramatic changes worldwide due to the eff ects of climate changes and human management activities. Cropping pattern is an major factor contributing to crop yield and food security at local, regional and national scales, and is a critical input data variable for many global climate, land surface, and crop models. Hence for creating annual cropping intensity maps at huge scales, MODIS images have difficulty with mixed land cover types within a pixel.

  • Land is an important input for the agricultural production, any change in land use pattern has significant implications for crop production. Land is a limited resource and net shown area is reducing year after year. Hence, judicious use of land is of prime importance to meet the growing demand of food for ever increasing population of not only the state in particular but nation in general.

  • The present study was undertaken in Belagavi district of Karnataka to analyse the resource use efficiency of Soybean crop. The multi-stage random sampling procedure was adopted to choose the sample farmers. The total sample size selected for the present study was 60. A Cobb-Douglas production analysis technique was used to analyze the data. The results of the study revealed that seed, FYM, human labour, bullock labour, and fertilizer were over utilised and machine labour and plant protection chemicals were under utilised by the farmers.

  • ICTs (Information and Communication Technology) usage in third world countries is playing a vital role for the enhancement of farmer’s business towards agriculture. Recently, communication through ICTs is considered very important in enhancing farmers’ access to better understand agricultural position. Farming communities appreciate ICTs as easy, fast and convenient way to communicate and get prompt answers of respective problems. Nowadays, the ICTs have generated an opportunity for the farmers specially to get the information about marketing and weather.

  • Nitrogen in manure occurs mainly in organic forms (e.g., proteins) and as ammonium (NH4+). Some composted manures contain small amounts of nitrate. Ammonium and nitrate are plant-available forms of N, while organic N is not immediately plant-available. Before organic N can be taken up, however, it must first be converted to inorganic forms. This process, which is completed by soil microbes as a by-product of organic matter decomposition, is called mineralization. The mineralization rate is therefore the rate at which organic N is made plant available.

  • We propose a method for analyzing long complex and compound sentences that utilizes global structure analysis with domain-specific pattern grammar. Previously, long sentence analysis with global information used the following methods: two-level analysis--global structure analysis of long sentences with domain-independent function words and parsing of their constituents[Doi et al., 1991], and pattern matching--adaptation of domain-specific fixed pattern to input sentences. By utilizing domaindependent information the latter method could analyze long sentences of that domain.

  • The first step in most empirical work in multilingual NLP is to construct maps of the correspondence between texts and their translations ( b i t e x t m a p s ) . The Smooth Injective Map Recognizer (SIMR) algorithm presented here is a generic pattern recognition algorithm that is particularly well-suited to mapping bitext correspondence. SIMR is faster and significantly more accurate than other algorithms in the literature. The algorithm is robust enough to use on noisy texts, such as those resulting from OCR input, and on translations that are not very literal. SIMR encapsulates its...

  • The three MT systems are characterized by different translation units. D3 , HPAT, and SAT use sentences, phrases, and words, respectively. D3 (Sentence-based EBMT): It retrieves the most similar example by DP-matching of the input and example sentences and adjusts the gap between the input and the retrieved example by using dictionaries. (Sumita 2001) HPAT (Phrase-based EBMT): Based on phrasealigned bilingual trees, transfer patterns are generated.

  • This paper describes an analysis method which uses heuristic knowledge to find local syntactic structures of Chinese sentences. We call it a preprocessing, because we use it before we do global syntactic structure analysisCl]of the input sentence. Our purpose is to guide the global analysis through the search space, to avoid unnecessary computation. To realize this, we use a set of special words that appear in commonly used patterns in Chinese. We call them "characteristic words" . They enable us to pick out fragments that might figure in the syntactic structure of the sentence. ...
