Integrated pest management practices

The study was carried out during 2013-14 in Meerut district of Uttar Pradesh state to focus on the sugarcane growers regarding impact of knowledge on adoption level of IPM practices. The 80 contact farmers were selected as respondents. The study revealed that the maximum knowledge gap was found to be existing in previous crop residues, crop rotation, hand picking of the insect and their destruction, hot air and water treatment, light and pheromone trap, microbial control, use of natural enemies, resistant varieties, biopesticides/ bio-agents, application and dose of different pest etc.

A field experiment was conducted in a farmer’s holding at Sethumadai, Pollachi, Tamil Nadu to develop integrated pest management strategy against sucking pest complex of cocoa including tea mosquito bugs, mealybugs and aphids during 2014-2015 using randomised block design with three treatments (IPM module, farmer’s practice and control) and replicated seven times in an area of 10,000 m2 .

The main objective of the project is to arrange the citrus industry in Vietnam with world standards manufacturing practices and opportunities for the export market. Through sustainable integrated pest management (IPM) associated with the principles of good agricultural practice (GAP) for both economic interests and the environment, and will enable citrus growers in Vietnam leader in production in Asia-Pacific region.
