The study was established in the eastern Marmara Region of Turkey and included various SP techniques and cultural treatments (CT) of differing intensity applied in a factorial design before the plantation of one-year-old maritime pine seedlings. The SP treatments included raking by a bulldozer (SPB), raking by a bulldozer and then spraying with 1%-(v:v) glyphosate (SPH), and raking by a bulldozer followed by the broadcasting of the subsoil via bulldozer (SPS), the latter being the standard and the most intensive forest management SP treatment.

Bloodstream infections are frequent and life – threatening, can lead to increase in morbidity, mortality and health care cost of patients admitted in intensive care unit (ICU). In addition to this, infections due to emerging multidrug resistant (MDR) microorganisms, the treatment becomes challenging. With the rising problem of drug resistance, the present study was undertaken to evaluate the most prevalent bacterial pathogen causing Bloodstream infections in adult patients admitted to an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) with their antimicrobial sensitivity pattern.

Banded leaf and Sheath blight of maize caused by Rhizoctonia solani f.sp. Sasakii [teleomorph: Thanatephorus cucumeris] is of worldwide occurrence and is known to cause substantial yield losses. It is a major production constraint in high yielding varieties under intensive maize production systems. The pathogen has a very wide host range and exhibits considerable pathogenic and molecular variability. Due to non-availability of highly resistant cultivars, the management of banded leaf and sheath blight primarily relies on chemical control.

Psychological distress increases with the intensity of cancer pain. Cancer pain is often under-reported and under-treated for a variety of complex reasons, partly due to a number of beliefs held by patients, families and healthcare professionals. There is evidence that cognitive behavioural techniques that address catastrophising and promote self-efficacy lead to improved pain management. Group format pain management programmes could contribute to the care of cancer survivors with persistent pain.
