  • Currently available rice varieties contain low percent of protein and many deficiency symptoms are predominantly seen in rice eating population are observed. To improve the efficiency of breeding for total grain protein in rice, a thorough understanding of the genetics of the trait concerned is essential. In order to address this problem we have identified promising local indica rice, (HPR14), which possesses relatively higher protein than cultivated rice. The rice protein normally posses 7-8 percent while the donor genotype identified has an average of 14.1 percent total protein.

  • A study was conducted at Technological Evaluation Centre, Arunachal Pradesh, India to analyse the economic performance of robusta coffee in Tirap district of Arunachal Pradesh for the years 2011-12 to 2013-14. The average labourers utilized for all the cultural operations were 344 man days per hectare with an average total cost of cultivation of Rs. 41,412 per ha. Of the total cost, labour wages alone accounted for 65% followed by processing cost (22%) and fertiliser cost (7%).   • The study was conducted during 2018-19 in Mandya district of Karnataka State, India. The pre-tested interview schedule was used to collect the data from 120 Seasamum growers through personal interview method. The collected data was tabulated and analyzed using percentages, correlation and regression. As high as 44.17 per cent of Seasamum growers belonged to medium level adoption category, 35.00 per cent to low adoption category and 20.83 per cent belonged to high adoption category.

  • The analysis of genetic diversity using D2 statistics clustered 33 selected genotypes of cultivated finger millet into ten different clusters. The cluster I had 8 genotypes and cluster II and IV had 9 genotypes each. The remaining clusters had only one genotype each. The inter cluster distance was highest (D=46.61) between cluster VII (GE4568) and cluster VIII (GE1200) and between cluster VII (GE4568) and cluster II (D=42.22). The trait days to 50 per cent flowering contributed more towards the genetic divergence of 33 selected finger millet genotypes.
