This paper investigates flexural behavior and analytical approach for predicting the load and deflection at critical performance points of reinforced concrete (RC) beams strengthened with prestressed carbon fiber-reinforced polymer (CFRP) sheets. A finite element model is developed to simulate the interaction between the RC beam and the CFRP sheets, capturing key aspects such as failure modes, ultimate load, and mechanical behavior across the three phases of failure.

This work investigates the generation of neutron flux inside lead shielding due to cosmic rays as a function of shielding thickness by use of the GEANT Monte-Carlo modelling code. GEANT allows for the Monte-Carlo modelling of the transport of particles in matter. This includes muons, the particles of interest here, which originate from cosmic ray showers.

The thesis is structured as follows: In Chapter 1, the scientific literature is summarized within the scope of this study. Chapter 2 provides a comprehensive overview of the principles of the applied computational approaches in this study. Chapter 3 identifies the important residues of the LsIA/α7 nAChR complex that affect the interactions between the toxin and the membrane protein due to C-terminal carboxylation of LsIA. The present study contributed to the body of knowledge by providing a theoretical framework in modelling and predicting host residents’ interactive behaviour towards tourists, and a comprehensive understanding of the roles that psychologic, demographic and socio-graphic factors plays in the different directions of community attitudes towards tourism.
