Recently, we introduced Stroma-AReactive-Invasion-Front-Areas (SARIFA) as a novel hematoxylin–eosin (H&E)-based histopathologic prognostic biomarker for various gastrointestinal cancers, closely related to lipid metabolism. To date, no studies on SARIFA, which is defined as direct tumor-adipocyte-interaction, beyond the alimentary tract exist.

Ebook "Cell-penetrating peptides: Methods and protocols" is divided into three parts, summarizing the most important areas of CPP research and hopefully raising relevant questions for further development. Part I briefly presents the historical background of CPP studies and the classifications of the available CPPs, and then summarizes the approaches for prediction of novel CPPs. An overview of penetration studies is also included due to the importance of this CPP for the whole field.

A comprehensive understanding of cancer has been furthered with technological improvements and decreasing costs of next-generation sequencing (NGS). However, the complexity of interpreting genomic data is hindering the implementation of high-throughput technologies in the clinical context: increasing evidence on gene–drug interactions complicates the task of assigning clinical significance to genomic variants.

Enhancers are distal cis-regulatory elements required for cell-specific gene expression and cell fate determination. In cancer, enhancer variation has been proposed as a major cause of inter-patient heterogeneity— however, most predicted enhancer regions remain to be functionally tested.

Ebook "Chiral recognition in separation methods: Mechanisms and applications" reminds us that vancomycin, one of the macrocyclic glycopeptide selectors, has strong antibiotic properties and proposes, using vancomycin as an example, and that the antibiotic and enantioselective interactions are related. Solvent effects are very important and yet very difficult to predict accurately. The different author approaches should give an idea to the reader on the complexity of the chiral separation problem.

Ebook "A new-generation density functional: Towards chemical accuracy for chemistry of main group elements" covers the most recent progress in the development of a new generation of density functional theory (DFT) for accurate descriptions of thermochemistry, thermochemical kinetics, and nonbonded interactions of main group molecules. In this book, the authors present the doubly hybrid density functionals (DHDFs), which dramatically improve the accuracy for predictions of critical properties by including the role of the virtual (unoccupied) orbitals.

We present new results for the theoretical prediction of doubly-polarized cross sections of W Z events at the LHC using leptonic decays. Compared to the previous studies, two new kinematic cuts are considered. These cuts are designed to enhance the doubly-longitudinal (LL) polarization and, at the same time, study the Radiation Amplitude Zero effect.

New immunotherapeutic strategies based on predictors are urgently needed. Toll-like receptor adaptor interacting with SLC15A4 on the lysosome (TASL) was recently confirmed to fulfill an important role in the innate immune response. However, whether TASL is involved in tumor development and immunotherapy response prediction has not been reported.

In the tumor microenvironment (TME), the dynamic interaction between tumor cells and immune cells plays a critical role in predicting the prognosis of colorectal cancer. This study introduces a novel approach based on artificial intelligence (AI) and immunohistochemistry (IHC)-stained whole-slide images (WSIs) of colorectal cancer (CRC) patients to quantitatively assess the spatial associations between tumor cells and immune cells.

It is common that cancer patients have different molecular signatures even though they have similar clinical features, such as histology, due to the heterogeneity of tumors. To overcome this variability, we previously developed a new approach incorporating prior biological knowledge that identifies knowledge-driven genomic interactions associated with outcomes of interest.
