A field experiment was conducted during kharif, 2019 on sandy loam soils of dryland farm of S.V. Agricultural College, Tirupati campus of Acharya N.G. Ranga Agricultural University. The results of the experiment revealed that among the different intercropping systems, little millet + greengram (4:2) (T6) recorded significantly higher plant height, leaf area index, dry matter production followed by little millet + cowpea (4:2) (T7). Lower values of these growth parameters were recorded with little millet + cluster bean (4:2) (T8).

A field experiment was conducted to find out the effect of different intercrops on growth and yield attributes of American cotton under dryland condition during kharif season of 2014-15 at the farm of AICRP for Dryland Agriculture, Dr. Panjabrao Deshmukh Krishi Vidyapeeth, Akola (Maharashtra). The experiment was laid out in randomized block design, replicated thrice with eleven treatments. Maximum plant height (71.23 cm), leaf area (1462 cm2 ) and leaf area index (0.81) were recorded in cotton + clusterbean intercropping system than other cropping system.

An investigation was carried out to study the effect of intercropping crops (knol khol and broad bean) on growth, physiological aspects and yield of Cabbage. Sole crop of Cabbage was grown and between the inter-row spaces knol khol/broad bean was intercropped in single/double row planting. Spacing of 60 x 30 cm between cabbage and 30 x 30 cm for knol khol and 30 x 20 cm for broad bean was adopted.

A field experiment was carried out using two varieties of pea (Rachna and local cultivar Makhyatmubi) and one Indian mustard (NRCHB 101)intercropping systems to determine the competition among these and economics of each intercropping system. The intercropping systems were assessed on the basis of existing competition and economic indices such as land equivalent ratio (LER), relative crowding coefficient, aggressivity, competitive ratio (CR), relative crowding coefficient (RCC) and monetary advantage index (MAI).

An investigation was carried out to study the effect of intercropping on growth, physiological aspects and yield of taro with constant spacing of 60x45 cm (sole crop), 30x15 cm between (cowpea and French bean) and 35x20 cm (ginger and turmeric) in single and double row planting system. The growth parameters of taro were recorded significantly highest under sole cropping of colocasia whereas petiole diameter was found to be significant in taro with single row ginger.

Shading includes low light intensity and varying quality. However, a low red/far-red (R/Fr) ratio of light is a signal that affects plant growth in intercropping and close- planting systems. Thus, the low R/Fr ratio uncoupling from shading conditions was assessed to identify the effect of light quality on photosynthesis and CO2 assimilation.

An agroforestry experiment was conducted with three and a half year old Jatropha curcas plantation at Mettupalayam, Tamil Nadu to find out the optimum spacing of J. curcas for intercropping. The growth characteristics of Jatropha curcas were significantly influenced by different spacings of J. curcas and intercrops. J. curcas recorded highest plant height (310 cm), number of branches (14.66) and crown diameter (342.8 cm) at wider spacing of 4 m x 3 m. Different intercrops also significantly influenced the growth characters of J. curcas. J.
