This Master by Research project aims to develop the human gas capsule that enables realtime intestinal gas profiling in a low-cost, non-invasive and accurate manner. The safety, viability, reliability and repeatability of the capsule will be evaluated in both laboratorial environments and animal trials that are influenced by dietary effect, heat-stress-induced gut disorder and dietary supplemental therapeutic agent.

Eosinophilic enterocolitis is a rare condition representing the least frequent manifestation of eosinophilic gastrointestinal disorders. We report a 49-year-old man who presented with abdominal pain, diarrhea, and intractable vomiting for 2 weeks. Abdominal computed tomography demonstrated gastric wall thickening with muralwall thickening of the small intestine and colon. Endoscopy revealed gastric outlet obstruction because of luminal stenosisfrom duodenal edema.

Inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD) are intestinal disorders characterized by inflammation in the gastrointestinal tract. Interleukin-10 is one of the most important anti-inflammatory cytokines involved in the intestinal immune system and because of its role in downregulating inflammatory cascades, its potential for IBD therapy is under study.
