This study aimed to diagnose swine dysentery (SD) caused by Brachyspira hyodysenteriae in pigs by the PCR method in Vietnam. Of the 250 samples, 29 isolates of B. hyodysenteriae (11.60%) were identified by PCR in seven provinces of Northern Vietnam, and the infection rate differed from region to region.

Nitrogen removal with biological methods plays a crucial role in wastewater treatment technology. The treatment begins with the oxidation of ammonia to nitrite to facilitate the subsequent nitrification and denitrification. Various strains of ammonia-oxidising bacteria have been reported. In this study, we use three Bacillus bacteria isolated from swine wastewater to oxidise ammonia.

In nitrogen treatment with biological methods, nitrite metabolism is an intermediate process that facilitates other processes involving different bacteria strains. In this study, we isolated two nitriteoxidising bacteria strains from abattoir wastewater and wastewater from biogas tanks of an industrial pig farm in Ha Tinh province.

Lactic acid bacteria have been advocated as probiotics to replace antibiotic growth promoters, improve growth performance, and reduce cost production in swine farming. The aim of this study is to identify and evaluate the probiotic traits of strain LCN13 isolated from traditionally fermented feed for swine.

Whether this is accompanied by a reduction in bacterial antimicrobial resistance has not been proven so far. In this study 3054 Escherichia coli (E. coli) isolates from pigs which had suffered from disease on 2161 farms in North Western Germany were evaluated retrospectively from 2006 to 2017 for trends in their antimicrobial resistance pattern.

Previous studies have shown that the genus Moraxella is commonly present in the nasal microbiota of swine. Results: In this study, 51 isolates of Moraxella were obtained from nasal swabs from 3 to 4 week old piglets, which represented 26 different fingerprintings by enterobacterial repetitive intergenic consensus (ERIC)-PCR. Whole 16S rRNA gene sequencing allowed the identification at species level of the Moraxella spp. isolates.

Wild boar-derived hepatitis E (HEV) genotype 3 virus has been successfully isolated in cell lines of human origin only. Considering the zoonotic potential and possible extrahepatic localisation of genotype 3 strain, it is important to investigate the viability of cell lines of different animal and tissue origins.

Porcine circovirus type 2 (PCV2) is the causative agent of porcine circovirus-associated disease (PCVAD). Its prevalence in swine herds was first reported in China in 2000. PCV2 infection causes immunosuppression that leads to multiple diseases, causing serious economic problems for the swine industry in China.

It has been demonstrated that swine waste is an important reservoir for resistant genes. Moreover, the bacteria carrying resistant genes and originating from swine feces and wastewater could spread to the external environment. Fluoroquinolones (FQs) are widely used in livestock and poultry for the treatment of bacterial infections.

In the present study, 25 diarrheic faecal samples/ rectal swabs collected from post weaning pigs were examined by cultural method for the presence of Enterobacteriaceae members which resulted in isolation of 18 lactose fermenter and two non-lactose fermenter bacterial colonies. The recovered colonies were subjected to VITEK® 2 Compact System for the identification of bacteria. Out of 18 lactose fermenter bacterial colonies, 15 were identified as Escherichia coli, two as Enterobacter asburiae, and one as Klebsiella pneumoniae.

This present study has aimed to provide a molecular characterization of rotavirus species A (RVA) and to determine the frequency of RVC and RVH in fecal specimens from nonvaccinated piglets, across 5 farms in the metropolitan mesoregion of Belém, within the Amazon region, Brazil. In the previous study, porcine RVA was found in 9.9% (17/172) during the years 2008-2009. Using RT-PCR, Sanger nucleotide sequencing, and phylogenetic analyses, the entire genomes of 17 Brazilian porcine RVA strains were analyzed.

A study was conducted for assessing the immunogenicity of the inactivated PK-15 cell adapted classical swine fever virus (CSFV) vaccine in pigs under farm conditions. Thirty numbers of pigs of 10 -12 weeks of age maintained at two farms each were vaccinated. The 30 number of pigs from each farms were divided into three groups comprising of 10 animals each.

Prevalence and pathomorphology of bacterial infection of the liver and kidneys was studied in swine population from postmortem carcasses of pigs in the Department of Veterinary Pathology, College of Veterinary science, Assam Agricultural University (AAU), Khanapara, Guwahati-22.A total of 21(48.8%) liver and 9(20.9%) kidney samples were found to be positive for the presence of bacterial infection out of 43 samples examined during the study. Bacteria isolated were mainly Streptococcus spp. (10.5%), Staphylococcus spp. (6.97%), Micrococcus spp. (1.16%), E. coli (11.6%), Klebsiella spp. (2.

Illness with influenza in pigs was first recognized during the influenza pandemic of 1918 to 1919, and a swine influenza virus was first isolated from a human in 1974 [46]. In 1976, swine influenza virus caused a respiratory illness with one fatality among 13 soldiers in Fort Dix, New Jersey [7]. No exposure to pigs was found. A subsequent epidemiologic study showed that up to 230 soldiers had been infected with the virus.
