The study of cultural and morphological characters of six isolates of entomopathogenic fungi isolated from organic environment of Durg District of Chhattisgarh namely; Fusarium sp. strain FW24, Rhizopus oryzae, Metarhizium majus and Trichoderma harzianum as well as from naturally infected ticks namely; Aspergillus amstelodami and Fusarium beomiforme was conducted.

Trichoderma spp. is biocontrol agents extensively used in management of fungal diseases of crop plants exhibiting mycoparasitism against a wide range of plant pathogens. Twelve Trichoderma isolates T. asperellum (7), T. harzianum (4) and T. longibrachiatum collected from ten district of U.P from chilli ecosystem were characterized for their antagonistic activity against Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. capsici and Colletotrichum capsici of chilli. The isolates revealed differential reaction pattern against the test pathogens.

An in vitro bioassay was undertaken to record the compatibility of local isolate of Trichoderma harzianum with fungicides used in coorg mandarin-pepper-coffee plantations. Eight non-systemic, 10 systemic and 9 combi products fungicides were evaluated against Trichoderma for radial growth inhibition on PDA medium using poisoned food technique. Contact fungicides at selected concentration were found to be safer than systemic and combi products except Chlorothalonil.

Twenty five isolates of Trichoderma harzianum and Trichoderma viride were obtained from rhizosphere soil of turmeric and ginger collected from Belagavi and Bagalkot districts of Karnataka and eight potential isolates based on antagonistic activity were studied using RAPD PCR. The genetic relatedness among two isolates of Trichoderma harzianum and six isolates of Trichoderma viride were analysed with five random primers. RAPD profiles showed genetic diversity among the isolates with the formation of two major clusters.

Investigations were carried out on in vitro evaluation of isolated indigenous bioagents from carrot rhizosphere on inhibition of egg hatching and larval mortality of M. incognita. Indigenous bioagents viz., Trichoderma harzianum, T. viride, Pachonia lecani with 2×106 cfu/g, Pseudomonas fluorescens and Bacilus subtilis with 1×108 cfu/g tested at 25, 50, 75 and 100 per cent concentrations after 24, 48 and 72 hours after inoculation. In vitro antagonism of native biocontrol agents on coconut pathogens revealed that all the three isolated native Trichoderma spp were found inhibitory to the mycelia growth of Thielaviopsis paradoxa and Phytophthora palmivora. The aim of this study was to determine the phylogenetic relationships of Trichoderma isolates obtained from NLS Tobacco region. Utilizing the sequence analysis of internal transcribed spacer-1 (ITS-1) region of the ribosomal DNA the rDNA of Five Trichoderma isolates was amplified by polymerase chain reaction (PCR) using universal primers (ITS-1 and ITS-4). PCR products were purified and these purified products were used to amplify the ITS-4 region of the five Trichoderma isolates.

In the present study, the efficiency of 15 day old culture filtrate (nonvolatile compound) of 20 Trichoderma isolates was evaluated at 10% and 25% concentration using poison food technique against mycelial growth C. graminicola. All the 19 isolates of Trichoderma asperellum and one isolate of Trichoderma harzianum were significantly reduced the mycelia growth of C. graminicola over control at 10% and 25% concentration. The maximum reduction of mycelia growth of C. graminicola at 10% and 25% of T4 isolate which recorded 68.18% and 80.68% inhibition radial growth respectively.

Pythium damping-off of Chilli (Capsicum annuum L.) is very common problem in fields and greenhouses, whereas the organism kills newly emerged seedlings. In present investigation repeated isolations from rotten seeds as well as toppled seedlings of Chilli cv. Pusa Jwala have yielded the cultures of P. aphanidermatum. The damping off mainly being soil borne, the primary infections are needed to be controlled with suitable fungicides. The different fungicides and bioagents were evaluated as seed dressers and soil drenching.

Trichoderma harzianum parasitism on Meloidogyne incognita eggs and juveniles was examined in-vitro under Assam condition. M. incognita egg masses, their derived eggs and second-stage juveniles (J2) were parasitized by T. harzianum. The conidia of the T. harzianum were found inside of the eggs and attached to the J2s with the gelatinous matrix.
